Hi, I'm new to the site so apologies for any unintentional breaks with protocol! Have spent weeks clutching paint charts, starting to feel slightly demented. Need to match/compliment a tiled fireplace. I love muted colours, fireplace more on the acidic vibe... Any advice on how to tackle?! E.g pick out a colour, go with the base colour, totally different colour? Thanks in advance

What colours are the tiles and your furniture?

I renovate a lot if period houses and tend to ignore fireplace colours and treat it like art where colour irrelevant. I think faux art painted to 'match' rooms is one of the horrors of modern design

Hi, wow what a swift reply! The floor is stripped but the varnish is bordering on orange...in a good light warm brown! Two built in cupboards to be painted too, bed cream painted wood, bedsides yet to be found...
Tiles are a greeny yellow with red and dark green elements. In a photo the tiles look cream, in real life they have a definite lively green hue....was thinking Tunsgate green or green ground?? Trying to get a a picture.....thanks for your interest!

You have my dream job.. though based on how long Ive been dithering over one colour I doubt my cost/profit ration would be very good! Pic attached, as when we bought the house.. but tile colour not really as shown!

I love green ground use it lots. I think it goes well with a Moroccan look with touches of dark red.

Thanks very much, that's a vote for green ground!

I agree with noddy. I'd ignore the tiles when choosing a colour.
