Ikea kitchen help

I have just spent what feels like a lifetime trying to figure out the ikea kitchen planner and think that the kitchen i want will be around £4200 once i have added in lighting.

Does anyone know how their instillation charge works out? they don't put a guideline on the website to give me an idea of their charges. Does anyone know how much it is likely to cost me and how they break it down before i take a trip there? Do the take out the old kitchen at the same time and get rid of everything?

Its quite a while since we got a quote for installation, but my kitchen from IKEA was less than yours (around 2,000 I think) and the quote for installation, if I recall, was about the same, maybe slightly less. We are in the process of getting a new kitchen now - an L shape with 2 x 3m runs of cupboards and have had quotes from a builder and a kitchen company - 1100 from the builder and 1500 from the kitchen company. I'm guessing that you have a fairly big kitchen if you've managed to spend 4k on units so I'd say around 2k. I don't think they take your old one away, I think they usually work on the assumption that the kitchen will be an empty room.

Thanks Mandy, our kitchen is not that -much bigger than yours 3.5x3. The price includes all new appliances and lighting. I think I'm going to have to try find a local fitter, everyone Ive spoken to says ikea fitters are really expensive.

The ikea fitters for my kitchen were £1600 BUT they were doing a special deal for half price installation at the time (was last Nov) so I only paid £800. I would have paid the £1600 though, they were worth the money, couldn't fault them.

Can I ask what that included egg? Do they take everything out as well?

No, they charge extra for that. I had mine fitted by Ikea in Feb. they've been ok, few snagging issues but you then have the fall back of the 25 year guarantee.

Think it was 150 to rip out old kitchen so I did it myself. You will need to pay extra for massive skip. And maybe don't bother with painting before, as they absolutely trashed my decor and plasterwork. Absolutely love the kitchen...it feels solid and sturdy.

Ps my fitting was half price plus 300 gift card. Keep your eye out for promotions.

I think I will be able to take out the old kitchen myself, do I get it plastered before fitting?

Do they discount if you build the units yourself?
