small shelves supported on uprights?

Please can anyone suggest an example of these, or at least tell me if there is a proper name for what I need!

DD's bed head is in an alcove where it fits exactly, there is no space at the side of the bed at all for about 2 feet.
The walls are boarded with something, old plasterboard or something else very flimsy. We have lath and plaster ceilings in most rooms and this is an attic conversion so I suspect it is something similar.

I'd like to give her some shelves to hold a bottle of water, her clock etc. As the walls are so lightweight I was thinking that shelves would have to be supported on some kind of upright, which in turn may have to stand on the floor.

Any ideas? What should I type into my search engine?

Shelves that are supported on the floor are a table, I think.

Try adjustable shelf supports or slot supports. Will think on.

Shelves that are supported on the floor are a table, I think .... yoursirname! My keyboard has major coffee spray on it now!! Why not a table or a wooden stool from Wilkinsons

You might try 'built in shelving' or go on Homebase website as they do a decent range of built in shelving/wardrobe type modular furniture. You could get a firm like Hammonds to come and do a proper built in set of bedroom furniture if you wanted something more.

A table won't work because there is no space for it to stand. If it goes at the edge of the alcove DD won't be able to get out of bed unless she climbs onto it or crawls underneath it.

thanks, I will try googling the other suggestions.

Was this what you meant? (sorry, on phone so no proper link)

calendula, thanks, that is along the right line but the shelf supports would have to stop at above bed height and then there would only be the wall support to go down to the ground IYSWIM.

this is the closest I can get so far

I'm not sure that what you're talking about would be much more secure than simply shelves on a ladder system screwed into the wall. The IKEA supports you linked to spread the load along the support, they don't stand on the ground.

If you used the right fixings, something like this maybe? I would think a shelf/shelves would be ok as long as you weren't overloading them.

Have a look at this
