Just that really, DD will be 2 1/2 when we move her (hopefully Jan) but we're keen to get ideas and pick up bits along the way to spread cost. We're keen to get her a full sized single bed, but apart from that not much idea. The room has in built cupboards and is about three times the size of her current small room which will remain the nursery. Any ideas on where to look or ideas on making the room seem a bit smaller for her?

Thanks.

armchair. be nice for you to read stories etc. dd 18 mo is in a big room and she loves the space to play so don't fill it up too much.

Thanks, thats a great idea. We have a sofa bed that we don't know where to put so it can go in there as a sofa! Grin.

I have nice coloured floor cushions in one corner for playing with toys on. You can paint a branch white and suspend from the ceiling with lights or little flowers glued on to make the space cosy

also a rug makes it cosy. we are decorating too and preparing the room for the eventual transfer of dd2 in there too - so you are getting the benefit of my though process. is a cold room here so cosy is imperative.

Brilliant poocatcher, please keep me updated on your ideas and thought processes!
Love the idea of a branch with lights on it, sounds really snug.

A little den for her -- even one made from a large cardboard box and decorated.

A dedicated art wall for her own creations?

A blackboard paint wall, maybe below a chair rail? She could express herself dramatically on the blackboard.

Painting her name on the wall at the head of her bed, with curliques or other decorative motifs?

Her own little table and chairs, and a tea party set. Nice for time with mummy or daddy or dolls, bears, etc..
An easel and drawing stuff.
When a baby comes along it's nice to have somewhere to keep things she likes from sticky little hands and it's nice for everyone else not to have all that drawing gear underfoot all the time.

Some great ideas in Ikea thanks rootypig, also hadn't thought about the need to keep a new LO away from smaller toys and sticky stuff! So much to think again!!
