I was wondering what all you wise Mumsnetters people reckon I should do with my sitting room. Sorry its a bit of a long 'un so hope you can make it through my indecision!
At the moment I have a couple of quite grotty light brown fabric DFS sofas that are 5 years old and in not great condition - stains, damaged fabric, sunken arm rest).
Due to an older relative selling her house I was offered and have accepted a Multiyork sofa which is a mid to dark blue and quite a classic design - quite like this. and not at all dissimilar to the blue sofa 3 pics down on the left in the link.
I have a small sitting room, so having a 3rd sofa isn't an option so have a few ideas and wonder what you think would look best:
My house is quite modern (less than 10 years old) and I prefer a more classic style in general, also I don't want to spend much at all as am quite broke but also want house to look nice, so if it would look much better and I would be happy with it then I would be willing to spend out.
So option 1 would be to buy 2 complimentary armchairs, was thinking of something like this or this
Or even ikea but not sure if that is too "out there" and would be a real contrast in style.
Obviously this is going to be expensive and worried in case it looks a bit of a mish mash or the colours don't blend well.

Another much cheaper option would be to get a throw and a couple of matching cushions - could then use the throw on one old sofa, the cushions on the aquired sofa, to bring them together, thinking something like this but my main concern with this is that it will make my house look a bit studenty and might end up permanantly re-arranging the throw! It would also be covering a soafa that is quite a different shape to the Multiyork one so not sure how that would look?

Another option would be keep an eye on Ebay to either wait for a sofa in the same style to come on and get both sets re-covered, but this would probably also be quite an expensive option, or to wait and hope another sofa exactly the same comes on. Would think this could take a while though as the sofa is well over 10 years old and in meantime my house would look messy with one brown and one blue sofas in different styles.

Thank you for making it this far! Any advice or opinions very welcome!

In our previous house we had 2 green armchairs (similar shape to the blue stripy ones) from a previous suite with a big classic cream Multiyork sofa. It worked really well, I used a mix of green & cream cushions across them both to tie them together IYKWIM.
We've moved and had a bit of a mix up with rooms and will now be having the Multiyork sofa in the living room with a new light brown JL sofabed when it arrives (impatient face) & will tone the cushions again to match them.
I think the classic MY sofas can work well mixed in with other styles, obviously cutting edge contemporary might be hard but slightly more modern is doable.

Hi ! If you go to multiyork you may well be bake to get a couple of scatter cushions in the same colour as the sofa to link the new chairs ?!?! :-)
