Can't decide. Live in a large detached Victorian house with red brick.
Was thinking manor house grey? Do I go for exterior eggshell or gloss?

Gloss, without a doubt - most suitable for high traffic front door. Don't bother with F&B as it chips & scratches... once the trike & stuff has done their business your door will look very battle worn. Mylands Colours of London are really tops or Little Greene oil based. Suggest classic black - you can't go wrong & always works for me. A strong green of Blue would work well with your red brick facade. Grey is a bit overdone & none too cheerful.

I second Little Greene oil based - they will colour match f and b though if you pick an f and b colour.

we have Little Greene Juniper Ash (a kind of grey ish blue) also have a Victorian red brick. I like it but next time might go for a darker greyish blue (if that's not too adventurous Grin)

What is so special about Farrow and Ball paint?

I see loads of posts about it - almost like it is an exclusive club. What is wrong with good old Crown or Dulux?

mummaemma · 27/08/2013 22:33

Have looked on dulux website and can only see 10 colour choices for weathershield exterior paint. More colour choice with f & b. They also have tester pots.

Little Green gloss finishes or even better Mylands Colours of London for a hard wearing finish. F&B nothing special at all. Why not have a bit of fun & be bold with your colour choice? Deepest, dark colours. How about a deep green-black holly green or similar blue-black. You'll find grey with chrome door furniture are two a penny down in nappy valley :) www.coloursoflondon.co.uk for a colour card. If you don't like it's so much easier to change than a room decor job.

Gloss - definitely.

We live in listed house, so sadly have to keep our front door black, but our french doors at the back are French Gray. It's been on for 2 years and looks like new.

I love this one ! Dark eggshell Slate grey ! Bit boring I guess - but prefer to say 'traditional ' !!!

mummaemma · 28/08/2013 08:43

sorry we are away at the mo so can't. it is a kind of dusty blue if that makes sense.

CustardTheCat84 · 28/08/2013 10:06

Mylands for Archway House is nearest the grey you mentioned. A darker statement grey with a blue undertone such as Oratory would look fab against red bricks.

Orangeblossomtree · 06/09/2013 18:10

Railings or downpipe. I don't like gloss though.

shockers · 06/09/2013 18:19

We've got Mizzle on our front door, it's a kind of grey/green.

mummaemma · 06/09/2013 18:24

Thanks everyone, have bought downpipe in eggshell.
