Wood effect vinyl or laminate in large kitchen space?

Would be interested in opinions on both. We're nearing the end of a building project and need to make decisions on flooring. Budget won't allow for wood (chose underfloor heating instead) and tiles too expensive too.
I really like vinyl, dh not sure but likes laminate which I don't really.

We had karndean wood effect flooring in our kitchen. Really pleased with it and having same in bathroom. Doesn't chip like laminate and easy to clean. It's more expensive than laminate but so worth it

I personally wouldn't have laminate in a kitchen due to water and other spillages, I think vinyl or Karndean is a better choice.

I think we're heading towards a mid priced vinyl-karndean out of reach budget wise. But might do tiles in the kitchen bit of kitchen diner and vinyl in rest. Dh just can't get his head round anything other than tiles or real wood and I think tiles are too hard with little ones around. I think he's handing it over to me though. Comments helpful, thanks.

I would choose vinyl.

I don't like ceramic floor tiles. too hard, too cold and not at all forgiving of any imperfections or movement in the floor.

We've got amtico in the kitchen and love it. We have laminate in the living room from previous owners and it is definitely not as nice or hard wearing. We didn't want laminate in the kitchen because of the damage risk with water.

Vinyl every time.

I have a version of Amtico / Karndean-y stuff, can't remember what we paid but there are cheaper versions than Karndean that are still good. I would go for that every time.

We had vinyl at low end of budget and it's awful. If you can't afford the expensive stuff, then don't do it. We complained to shop that they shouldn't have recommended it and eventually got a bit of money back.

It tears easily, not just with heavy white goods but also kitchen chairs. We can see edges of boarding underneath and some stains don't come off.

Have a look at rubber flooring, it's lovely. It can be expensive but You can by bulk ends of lines that are really cheap.

I think the vinyl that we've had an estimate for is mid price- £18 or so per m2. The man in the shop said it was good enough quality for a kitchen/diner that would take a lot of wear and he strongly advised us against cheap vinyl (not that we were thinking of it unless the quote was crazy) because of the tearing problems gallicgirl describes.

It felt hard and not too squishy or flexible like some vinyls we've had. And the wood effect was good and very textured. Also, the top layer was nice and thick. I reckon it'll do we'll for us and in a few years we might afford karndean or similar. Oh and it had 10 year guarantee which was reassuring.

I doing the sound of rubber-not least because it seems logical that plates would bounce Wink
