Ivory Shaker Kitchen but having a tile dilemma!

We have finally decided on our kitchen and are having mid-oak laminate worktops. So far , so good. However, I'm completely flummoxed about tiles!

We really want a classic look that won't appear overly dated in 10 years time. I think the metro tiles which are very popular at the moment may be out of favour soon similarly the checkerboard 4 or 5 colour country-look.

I like both of the above but am really unsure about what to go for. I don't want anything too contemporary or modern.

Any links to suggestions would be great! TIA Smile

I think he just relates most things to food

Mumemma tell me all about your kitchen as its exactly what I am after- please?

timidviper · 26/08/2013 22:56

We have a similar kitchen to mummaemma and have done the same, black granite upstands and painted walls, we just wipe it over and can touch up the paint easily if we reach a point that we need to.

Do they look 'bathroom-y' in real life?

Well they are quite big, but otherwise I think they'd be great in a kitchen. We put them with a travertine mosaic border. Our friend is a property developer and uses them in every house I think.

Well, tiles bought and I am very happy. Smile

I eventually purchased a different tile from B and Q which I'm delighted with. They are a rustic style smallish white tile (slight hints of grey and beige which blend beautifully with the ivory doors and oak worktops.

Many thanks for all your help and advice.
