I am looking for a new bed. I have seen a few I like online but am wary of buying before trying. I have 2 small dc's so time to do so is very limited and bed shops don't tend to be all together in one handy retail park.

We would prefer a wooden bed with a firm mattress. Hypoallergenic duvet and pillows as dh has excema.

I want to go looking this weekend so any help narrowing the search would be great.

Acra, try Warren Evans. They have a sale on, really nice wooden frame beds.

As for duvets, I appreciate they'd be pricy, but I love love love my silk duvet. My MIL's XP was terribly susceptible to everything, but the silk duvets were great for him.

We bought 2 when we bought the new bed, and they are truly wonderful. Light enough to not feel too heavy, beautifully toasty in winter and relatively cool in summer.

I believe you can also get silk filled pillows, but as neither DH or I are sensitive in that way, we have down pillows.

Good luck on your search, it really is worth trying out lots and lots of beds.

House of Fraser has a sale on at the moment with good discounts on duvets/pillows etc and I think when I was there, they had some silk duvets & pillows.
Here is a good article on good duvets/pillows for eczema/allergies

For people with allergies, hollowfibre duvets and pillows are the best as they do not have any natural filling which is the cause of allergies. You can get them in most supermarkets and at www.homespacedirect.com
