You know when you walk into someone's house and everywhere just smells lovely... like walking into Next Home or something.

How do you get that smell?!
Can anyone recommed a good air freshener.. whether it is plug in or a reed diffuser for example

Something that lasts ....

What's everyones favourite scent?

Thanks!

I have to say Yankee candles will fill your home with beautiful fragrance they have an enormous range.they are pricey but very long lasting. Clean cotton is their mega seller but I like the fruity ones I'm currently burning chocolate bunny and my whole house smells like I'm baking chocolate cake.

Aromastone + essential oils, lovely.

I've gone right off yankee candles...too sickly...used to be a massive fan. I recently bought a reed set from next and love it. It's in the hallway. Ideally you should have the same one in several rooms so as you walk from room to room the scent remains the same.

sorry gaggiagirl, didn't mean to sound rude Flowers Blush

I love Wax Lyrical reed diffusers, parma violet in the living room and tuberose and jasmine in the conservatory at the moment. Absolutely gorgeous fragrances, I'm addicted.

Any from The White Company, room sprays, diffusers and oils - all great.

kerryxx · 22/05/2013 22:41

Whenever I get reed diffusers I always find that they smell for a bit but then they lose their scent. Are they better when you spend more on them?

Candles are good but you have to light them. Sometimes you don't want candles lit. I may invest in a Yankee after your comment though as it is nice to have a decent candle. I never knew if they were worth the money.

Has anyone got any opinion on air wick for example? The plug in ones?

BUBBA that's ok each to their own I say! Even I felt sick from an orange one it was soooo strong.
Kerry I also rate ambipur 3volution I love the green one I think its meant to smell of meadows or something they are often on offer in asda and they fill the room but I find the floral 3volution over powering.

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 23/05/2013 11:41

Reed diffusers are better the more you pay for them.

justaweeone · 23/05/2013 11:47

Next reed diffusers are great,I have the New York one in my bedroom. Also have a rituals spa on in the sitting room,I think it is called spring garden. It wasn't cheap but have had it since before Christmas .
It also helps to turn the reeds over every now and then.

At the risk of sounding a bit mean and miserable ... don't air freshners - particularly the plug-in ones - just fill your house with chemicals?

Moomoomie · 23/05/2013 12:07

Fresh air..... Open the windows every day, even if for only half an hour.

gaggiagirl · 23/05/2013 13:08

Thereturn, funny you should say that I was browsing the plug ins in asda and a woman told me they can cause depression! I don't know if she was making it up or if there is any truth to it due to the chemicals any way I was too scared of the ladies glare to buy a refill that day.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 23/05/2013 13:39

Plug in air freshners are also a major cause of household fires.

lechatnoir · 02/06/2013 08:53

Try HomeSense & TK Maxx for some of the pricier home fragrances (candles/diffusers etc) at a fraction of normal cost otherwise White Company Seychelles is gorgeous or if u just want a cheapie sainsburys have got a lovely one in their home range - pink candles & the room spray is a glass bottle with pink label!
