What colour to paint my kitchen?

I am getting my kitchen re-tiled in a couple of weeks but can't decide what colour to paint it.
The units are light oak and the worktop is mottled in cream, taupe, sage green, grey and black.
The wall tiles are going to be cream brick style and the flooring will be black. All my kitchen accessories are cream so I can really have any colour on the walls.
Any suggestions? I was thinking about red but not sure if that's a bit passe?

What about sage if that is in the work top. Can you post a pick of the work top?

UnrequitedSkink, that's a lovely colour. I've been trying testers looking for a nice duckegg blue shade. I've recently tried the Laura Ashley but in certain lights it looks "greeny" and i want it more blue. Although i have been told it does look blue on. What was the shade of blue on the photo please and maker? I've also tried the Laura Ashley pale duck egg but that also has a green hue to it! Any help purleeeease ..........

We have f&b French Grey in our kitchen with similar cabinets and cream tiles (although we have a disgusting mottled brown counter top which I try to ignore). It looks great and is much more green than grey. It is much easier to see what the f&b colours look like if you look in the brochure/photo gallery.
However, not sure how it would look with black floor (we have fake terracotta-ish tiles).

F&B Always look completely different in the room you will put them I garentee it. Infact I suspect that any high pigment paint will surprise you. I have the F&B Fawn which looks a brown-ish colour on the colour card and in the store (you can walk around with the painted piece of wood to see it in different lights) but when I returned to see that the painter had painted green.......YES GREEN on my walls I was initaily devastated! I have come to love it though, as it does look different in different light and it is a supreme colour. You may not know till you take the plunge!
