children's book storage ideas?

DD is 2, she is absolutely, madly in love with books. We have hundreds. I'm running out of storage for them all. I'm wanting to create some storage for them in the playroom, but not sure how to go about it. It would need to be easily accessible to a toddler and easy to tidy the books away. I was thinking of just a low bookcase but worried it might fall on her and also, as many kids' books are a lot wider than adults' books, they might keep falling off and be hard for her to tidy up after herself hopeful

I am currently sporting the mumsnet hairdo and recently averted a major poonami disaster thanks to the envelope vest trick. Mumsnetters always have such good ideas so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a genius solution!

Hi, DS is also 2 and we're in the same position as you! I've found a few ideas on Pinterest here and here. I was looking at Tidy Books originally, but I think they're a bit pricey for us. At the moment, I'm veering round to the idea of Ikea spice racks on the walls: nice and cheap (and customisable) but they allow the books to be stored face-outwards. I've also seen a suggestion somewhere that you can store the books upright in a box so they can be flipped through easily (our local library does this with children's books), but I think this would only work with biggish/relatively uniform books.

I keep meaning to make one of these but am building a new house so hoping to convince carpenter to do something swish...

I got my daughter a lovely bookcase from Vertbaudet a few years ago, I'm pretty sure they still do them.

They have a few but I got the one where the books face outwards, it's similar to the Tidybooks ones linked above. I can't remember how much it is but there are always discount codes, think I got it 50% off.

We have this and I love it. Great quality and on wheels so no danger of falling over.

Pinned low on wall at toddler height they would be perfect

We have an Ikea unit, can't remember the name but it is a low cube shape divided into quarters. The beauty of it is the sections are deep enough and high enough for kids picture books. They also do fabric drawers to go in the holes if you don't need all of the shelf space which are great for keeping toys under control. Because it is low and squat it is much less at risk of being tipped, but you could always use some of those webbing wall anchors that Ikea do.

it's solid but also has fixings if you want to attach to the wall. Deep enough for the reams and reams of Julia Donaldson/Thomas/ Octonauts annuals etc etc and holds a lot of books. It's cheap too
You can also add brightly coloured baskets if you want toy storage.
I've got the 8 cube one with boxes for storage of my sewing stuff in the spare room.

Vertbaudet have good ones although. The 2 I've bought have eventually collapsed under the weight of the books crammed in.
