And want to share?

We have a 15yo dd and had the best trip ever. 2 weeks in Thailand and cost about £7k - much more than we would usually spend but so worth it

and edited to say I meant 2023!

Yes indeed!

We went to Dunbar. We camped at Belhaven Beach in a site with amazing facilities. DC did surf school every day and I pottered around Dunbar. Day trip to North Berwick (which is just a bigger Elie!) and lobster lunch at the harbour.

DC are desperate to go back.

Had my first holiday for three years, after recovering from long Covid, in May.
Three night city break in Rome, then train to Civitavecchia to join a week’s cruise in the western Med, visiting the Cannes film festival, the leaning tower of Pisa, Lucca, Portofino, Ajaccio, Palma, then finishing up with a city break in Barcelona before flying home. Exhausting with all the sightseeing, but fabulous!

We did a similar cruise but started with a few days in Barcelona. It was amazing and I'm now a cruise convert!

Went to Corfu for a week sandwiched in the middle of 2 weeks off work - so relaxing - fabulous. Planning the next one now!

We went to Belgium. Brussels, then Bruges. Beautiful place and I'd go again. Food in Belgium was incredible and we are big foodies so we were happy :)

We've been to a few places this year but the best so far has been 4.5 days in Dubrovnik. Was blown away by its beauty and we stayed in the most amazing hotel. Didn't want to leave.

Following because we booked a short haul holiday for 2024 but have decided to increase our budget and go long haul.

We're thinking of Canada! But have no idea

We had 2 weeks in our holiday home in the Outer Hebrides. Our (adult) kids were there the first week and old friends the second week. The Hebridean Celtic Festival was on the middle weekend with the Proclaimers headlining.

We're going back (me and dh) in November for 2 weeks and no visitors! We can see our friends there (we lived there for 10 years) and chill by the fire. Bring it on!

@reluctantbrit we have stayed in this in Berlin and it’s very central https://circus-berlin.de/apartmenthouse/

Thank you

I want a holiday home in the outer Hebrides!

Sounds amazing

@2024Hols how was the weather in Thailand? I'm always worried about the rainy season in Asia in the UK summer.

We went to India at Easter which was amazing but so hot, around 40 degrees. I think if we were to go again would aim for Christmas or Feb half term.

We did. We had 6 days in Perpignan - a new city for us so spent the time eating, drinking, sightseeing and going on a couple of trips to nearby coastal towns.

We then went along the coast to Sete, an old favourite, for 4 days of sea swimming, eating seafood, beach parties, water jousting and catching up with old friends and haunts. Then would our way back home by train.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 26/08/2023 18:28

@reluctantbrit we stayed with numa. It's a slightly odd concept - staffless hotels - but lots of the family spaces have small kitchens. Ours was really spacious and the sofa bed very comfy. There are several Berlin locations.

I love it there.

last year we did 2 nights in Toulouse and then drove for 2 nights in Perpignan and it was lovely.

Go for it, won't be disappointed.

We had a week in Kos which we really enjoyed. Did some excursions which made the trip.

Have booked for Mexico next summer, and Madiera in May.

Same question here! I know Koh Samui isn’t too bad rain wise in summer, but how was Bangkok and Khao Sok?

TeamGeriatric · 27/08/2023 02:25

We hadn't seen the in-laws in Australia for 4 years, so we spent 3 full weeks in Sydney. It was winter in Sydney, but the weather was probably better than at home. We were mostly wearing jumpers, but it was often sunny. Also managed to get tickets to see the lionesses in the world cup so that was a bonus. We had 36 hours in Singapore on the way out and currently on Day 3 in the Maldives on the return journey, UK bound tomorrow. I just wanted the kids to have some beach time, though routing the flight this way was tricky. Even with having free accomodation in Sydney it has cost a lot, but it's been a successful trip.

cariadlet · 27/08/2023 03:31

I've had a month in Costa Rica and it's been lovely. Going home tomorrow but would love to stay longer.
