Now that the school summer holidays are rapidly approaching, thought it would be nice to have a collection of places to visit around the UK which are Low Cost.

So put down your favourite places to visit, which don't cost a great deal in entry prices or car parking fees.

Budget: Max of £5 (inclusive of any car park fee)
How many people: Say £5 for 2 adult 2 children, 1 adult 3 children.

Greenwich Park - take a picnic and a football then go to the National Maritime Musuem - free entry and kids workshops. Get there early and park outside or in neighboroughing streets up at the Blackheath end.

Pond dipping whiles away hours. Check out local country parks/similar.

The Film Museum in Bradford is brilliant - and free. Probably best to combine it with the Royal Armouries in Leeds (also free), as Bradford itself isn't great.

I was thinking of the exact same thing the other day - trying to get some planning in early for the summer holidays so we don't end up with no ideas and spending a packet!

Found this site that lets you search by area and cost. Not overwhelmed with responses either but they seemed to have added some since I looked the other day.

You just type in your area and your budget and the age of your kids and it gives you days out with little maps. It's great!

Tunbridge Wells Museum and Gallery (upstairs of the Library, next to the Town Hall).

A great little museum FREE to get into.
They gave my DC a work sheet to find display items using the clues on the worksheet. All based on Alice in Wonderland.

It continues into the Gallery where you find Alice & the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. There is also a box full of hats for the children to dress up in.

We then went downstairs to the children's section of the Library where they had a craft Table out. The staff helped the children to decorate paper Waist Coats just like the white rabbits.

The museum is always there but the craft tabel is there on a Wednesday and a Thursday with a different theme each week througout August.

A great couple of hours entertainment for FREE.
