Has anyone used their vouchers for a holiday? I have about £200 before conversion (they're worth four times as much apparently, so £800 towards the cost of a holiday.
Have earmarked Easter hols or May half term for a week away next year , but we normally try and go away again in October half term, funds permitting.
I like the idea of using them towards a holiday (particularly Virgin, though siblu sounds good as well!
Just trying to decide whether we should blow them on meals, days out etc, or save them up and put them towards a holiday.
Anyone done it?

We are currently saving ours for a holiday next year. It is certainly good value. I guess the only downside is that all the people on Siblu holidays now are Tesco shoppers!

An alternative would be to use the vouchers to buy a channel crossing such as on the tunnel. You could then look at getting a gite or something similar.

We have also used the vouchers to pay for things like days out however these tend to be extras which we wouldnt have done otherwise so feel like less value.

Thanks. Yeah, usually use them for days out, meals etc, and sometimes even the cinema. However, i hadn't really noticed how much i had accumulated until recently, when i had the idea of a holiday!
New york next October would be fab, or perhaps Florida,- although dh is less keen on that!
I'll keep saving.

I have used Tesco vouchers for at least 2 foreign holidays abroad for the last 8 years!! Even been to Disneyland paris with them 3 times!! But, deals aren't as good as they used to be. Be very careful if you cannot afford to pay for all or nearly all of your holiday with vouchers as you do not qualify for any deals or discounts when paying with Tesco vouchers so for a big holiday such as Florida you may find that you pay full brochure price to benefit from £800 worth of vouchers when you could have saved that/more than that with discounts without using vouchers - then you can use your vouchers for something else!!

I've holidayed with loads of companies who no longer accept the vouchers and the ones that do - eg Siblu - tend to be more expensive than the rest. For example, we have been to here the last 2 yeasr free with tesco vouchers through canvas - approx £1000) but are going to Bois du Valmarie in the languedoc with Siblu this year - more than a week later as to go on our usual dates would have cost us more than £1800. It's costing £1300 end of Aug/beg Sept. So - you wouldn't have saved anything but wasted your vouchers on an almost identical holiday (both have beach/pool on site and you don't need a car - Portofelice is cheaper to get to). But canvas don't take vouchers this year - and bear in mind that Selectcamp were doing Portofelice mid August for 2 weeks for less than £800 in 2010!!!!

But save them up and you do get freebies - prob works out you only get about double the real value for them in the end but if it's free who cares?!!!

This May I took my dcs to here but paid the £171 for the 5 nights to Selectcamp for a 2 bedroom mobile (same accomm as the others) and used tesco vouchers for Stenaline Harwich to Hook of Holland. Got 'luxury cruise' - new ships are amazing and we went overnight (flat screen tv, pure white bed linen and even a double lower bunk in a 5 berth outside cabin when we had paid for a 4 berth inside!!!) and 3 hours less driving abroad. So cheap and fab holiday!! Thomson were over £700 for the same holiday but driving from calais!

Hope that helps!! Am a bit OT when it comes to getting value from tesco vouchers!! And.... if only 1 adult is going on a Euro camping holiday and you can get vouchers from aprents etc, put hteir name down as going on holiday as you always pay for 2 adults and kids go free but you can't transfer vouchers!! My mum gives me their vouchers every year and every year she is down as adult #2 but never travels!!!

have fun!!

Absolutely. We normally save them up for two years and then use then just before the oldest lot expire and sometimes get an extra lot arrive just in time to add to the total.

So far we have been to two French campsites staying in mobile homes in the Charente Maritime region with what is now Siblu, but was Haven Europe.

This year we took advantage of a special deal between Tesco Clubcard and Airmiles. I had enough Clubcard vouchers to buy 10,000 airmiles and because it was the first time we had done the airmile conversion, they doubled the airmiles to 20,000 (I think this offer is finished now sadly). Consequently, we are flying off to Cyprus in August for free and have also used the bonus airmiles to pay for car hire for two weeks. As my brother has an apartment out there we can use, it will be a very cheap holiday.

I reckon £350 in Clubcard vouchers will get you two weeks in France in a mobile home with the ferry crossing included in high season.

I had intended to use vouchers to pay for a Siblu holiday but found that they had their own rate for tesco customers. It worked out much cheaper to book online and pay with real money. We used tesco vouchers for our Eurotunnel crossing. I'm thinking about doing this again around Christmas time which will be a real bargain booking in advance.

curryfreak · 25/06/2010 21:49

Thanks for all the info
Yes, i've heard that the price for siblu when you use tesco voucers, makes it a really expensive holiday. Great idea to book eurotunnell/ferry with deals and shop around for a good price for the actual holiday. Lots of companies around to choose from if you do a little homework.
Ditto for Virgin. Paying with deals is extorninate!!

We used them for a week in a private villa in Ibiza, own pool. Was ace. Prices were in a standard brochure so don't think there was a 'tesco price'.

Ponders · 25/06/2010 22:06

eurotunnel is great value, you pay the same as if it was cash.

There aren't any Channel ferry deals though, only Irish Sea.
