airfares purchased before Tuesday's Budget?

Will it make a difference or not? Am going to USA for Thanksgiving (November) when the rumored plane tax is going to hit, so if we buy our tickets now, will be be charged later anyway?

Any crystal balls out there, or educated guesses?

I assume the tax will be included in the fare so if you've already paid they can't make you pay more. It would be like having to pay extra VAT on all the items sitting in your fridge that you hadn't eaten, if they suddenly decided to put VAT on foodstuf.

At least I hope so as we're flying back home in 5 weeks time and the tickets were already expensive enough as it is!

SOrry didn't read your message very well! I assume you'll be ok as you will be buying the tickets at the fare advertised. There will probably be a rush on tickets before the budget!

Am thinking Thanksgiving would be cheaper chez ilovemydog....

The airfares were £395.00 each, but the taxes (total) were £1005

I'm not so confident. For some reason i have a feeling the Carrier can charge you any new taxes/surcharges if they are charged for them. This may not be the case with this particular tax, it depends how iit is implemented.

Of course, if you don't book before the budget you will definitely be charged (if the rumours are correct).
