What's the best age for Lapland?

This Xmas DDs will be 6 and (just) 5. Is this too young and should we wait a year or will it work well?

Hi there, they are at a great age to experience Lapland. I think they'll be enthralled by the snow and of course meeting Santa. My travel company offers a nature-based experience (Santa included!) to the North of Sweden. Children can not only meet Santa in his secret hideaway, but they can also learn how to bake gingerbread and have fun in the snow with toboggans. If you are interested in finding out more, please get in touch. Our email is yourstory [at] magneticnorth.travel or visit www.magneticnorth.travel. Thanks very much and happy travels, Laura.

I have trevelled with emagine and Canterbury to Finland, at just 5 if the weather is cold (first time we went it was -20) then despite all the cold weather gear they will have travel coping, I would leave it a year.

We took ds first when he was 4 and again when he was 6 and he enjoyed it both times. The first time he was a true "believer" which was magical and the second he was kener on the activities. I think yours are a perfect age and with the right clothing will be just fine

My dd went when she was 5 with my parents and then we took her when she was 7. She loved both occasions so I would have thought 5 & 6 year olds would be fine.

One thing we did find though was that the cold did get to her when we took her. It was -28 on Xmas Eve and that was the day we were out on the skidoo's. The children were in trailers and absolutely froze. That was with all the proper clothes etc. It was just too cold for them. I have never seen so many children in tears. Even the mums who went in the trailers were saying it was juct unbearable as you had nothing to protect you from the full effects of the cold when you are moving.

So check the weather forecast before booking a skidoo trip.

Other than that there is normally so much going on they are fine.
