Booking a flight for daughter with Easyjet, advice please

I am booking a flight for my student daughter with Easyjet. For contact details I have put my name, for Passenger one I am about to put my daughters.I will then pay with my debit card.
I am concerned that because the passenger is in a different name to the person on the debit card,it will create a problem. Is there any way round this other than insisting my daughter pays on her debit card? Can anyone envisage a problem before I pay? Many thanks.

I used to book flights on easyjet at work for a third person to travel, using the company credit card. I've also paid for friends to come and visit using my card. As long as you've put her name as the passenger and she has photo ID there shouldn't be a problem.

This shouldn't be a problem we have done this for a friend before (with Ryanair) with the booking in their name, but using my husband's debit card to pay for the ticket.

Thank you very much for this,I really appreciate it as excited student daughter keeps ringing me and saying "Have you booked it yet?"
Just one more thing,is it possible that if I pay with my debit card that they might ask for the debit card as verification or something when she arrives at the airport? The only reason I am nervous is that when my dh and I went to Paris on Eurostar for our Silver Wedding Anniversary, there was a problem because the debit card I gave them was not the same as the one that paid for the tickets.Unfortunatly we were late and the whistle was blowing. With seconds to spare the lady on the desk just waved us on,bless her,she must have seen my stricken face! She did explain that I must turn up with the debit card that was used to pay for the tickets. The original debit card had been lost and the bank had issued me with a new one.
It was so close and I was so grateful to the lady for not been a jobsworth, but anyone reading this, please be aware that you must collect tickets using the same debit card that you paid for the tickets,or you could be caught out.

No replies to my last pedantic question so thank you Cog and Italy and I will book the tickets and give my daughter a happy evening dreaming of her trip to Nice.

You shouldn't need to show them the card at all if you've paid the full cost (which I think you have to, to book an easyjet flight?). I don't remember ever having to show them the card I paid with. If she prints out her boarding card at home when she checks in online, she won't even need to check in at the desk, she can go straight to security and they'll take a look at her passport and boarding pass (just a printout from her computer) and wave her though.

Hi
I certainly had no problem flying my in-laws (with different surname) via easyjet. Just get passenger name(s) lined up with the passport. I totally agree with Cogit. Airlines dont seem to care who paid!

Thanks Suzie!x

The thing about needing to bring along the debit/credit card only applies if the payment acrd holder is among the passengers.

Even so, I have booked with Easyjet many times and been among the passengers and i don't think they have ever asked to see the payment card. I don't think it is their policy. BA do ask for it, though.

I've booked many flights online, with Easyjet and others, and have never been asked to show the credit/debit card. And I booked for a friend and myself recently (who paid me back) with no problem.
This surprises me though, because surely changing your card (whether lost, stolen or simply out-of-date) must happen all the time?Especially when people book flights many months in advance.

DancingHippoOnAcid · 13/06/2010 00:13

clam - I did have a problem with BA once when the card I used to book the flights had been cancelled and a new account number issued due to an attempted fraud. Had to get the card company to send a fax to the airport before they would let me check in for the flight.

Though this has never happened with Easyjet as they don't require you to show the booking card.

You should always check the terms and conditions of the airline you book with to see if your airline does require this. I think the budget ones usually don't but quite a few of the major full service airlines do. And they won't let you check in without it. So if you do have a card expire or an account cancelled after you have booked a flight with one of these airlines you need to inform them of this so they can update the details on the booking before you arrive at the airport, to avoid a delay.

Interesting dancing. I've booked for August with BA (an insane moment, but tempted by vastly cheaper flight than Virgin) for the first time in 25 years. Better see when my credit card runs out!

BMI you need the card.

BlauerEngel · 14/06/2010 22:56

I book a flight for my mum with EasyJet several times a year, and not only do they not ask to see the credit card, but they generally don't even ask for the booking number. As long as the name on the passport corresponds with the name in their computer they're usually happy.

But we were flying recently with a subsidiary of Lufthansa and there was a big fuss made about showing the credit card at check-in. I had booked and paid for myself and two colleagues, and it made me think that if I happened to be ill and couldn't fly or get to the airport, the fact that my credit card had bought all the tickets would effectively prevent them from flying as well.

She is going to Italy for the summer in a few hours,4am flight.I will let you know how we get on.Thank you BlauerEngel, thats really reassuring. If she wasnt going for the summer I would give her my card but dont want to leave her stranded.
