Hello

I need recommendations for things to do with several (5+) children (aged 4 - 13-ish) and 2 adults. Preferably something outdoorsy. In the past we have been to a soft play, visited a castle, run around in the woods, but I don't live in the area so don't know what there is. Any suggestions?

Beach? Weymouth not far.

It needs to be Salisbury or Shaftesbury because its half-way between me and a friend I'm meeting.

And I just spent the weekend in Weymouth (was fab). But thanks!

monkey world

fab place - loads to do with amazing high adventure play exciting enough for teenagers.

Bovington Tank Museum good too.
Marwell Zoo near Winchester - fab day out.

oh - thought you were on holiday in the area.

SuperBunny · 30/05/2010 20:22

It needs to be very cheap/ free but thank you (again)

I live in Dorset so know lots of places round here, just not up there.

A walk up the "Hovis" hill in Shafesbury?? There is a nice little park near the bottom of it tbh. From memory of a holiday we once had there, it was a quaint little town but not really much going on.

The cafe at Salisbury cathedral was nice again from memory.

luciemule · 30/05/2010 20:24

yes - was going to say Gold Hill too but thought it had to be between the two places not in one.

SuperBunny · 30/05/2010 20:33

Thanks.

Salisbury or Shaftesbury or somewhere in between. We did Gold Hill last time but was lovely enough to do again. Was just wondering if there was anything else.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions.

You say you've been to a castle. Was that Old Sarum? If not, they have activities on over half term, and over the summer hols. Free entry if you are an English Heritage member, otherwise £3.50 for adults, and £1.80 for children from 5 upwards. See link here. There's no cafe so take your own picnic.

SuperBunny · 30/05/2010 22:16

Thanks JGB, I haven't been to Old Sarum but it is on my list of places to go. If the weather on Tuesday didn't look so bad, I'd take DS then.
