Glastonbury: first time with dd and first time in caravan, any tips?

Going to Glastonbury for the third time this year, but this will be my first time staying in the caravan fields and first time with dd. Any tips from experienced Glasto-goers?

DD will be 7-months but was prem so more like a 5-month old. Am a single mum and anticipate will be difficult to meet up with friends who will be camping on pennards hill (won't be able to get pram to them and trying to meet at a specific time when breastfeeding is near impossible) so it's probably just going to be me and dd most of the time.

Got the ear defenders, suncream, several sunhats (which all keep falling off) and sunglasses, but that's about it so far.

Was thinking of just getting a larger waterproof jacket for me to go around her sling + umbrella or should I get her her own - has showerproof mac but not proper waterproof.

Her sling's a bit faffy too, so any sugestions for a better one welcome. Currently have Close - great when folded properly to start with but gets all twisted up whenever I take it off.

Have a MURA if it's not too muddy for a pram but would prefer to get something lighter. Any suggestions for glasto-suitable pushchair that reclines flat, sells cheap secondhand and could fit in a small car boot 50cm x 52cm (can stretch to 68) x 95cm. Or any experience of a pushchair that should be avoided?

What's the set-up for the caravan fields? Is it easy to refill water containers or do you have to go quite far? Is path between vans easy to negotiate with pram/water container?

Are there stalls in kidz field selling nappies and other supplies (will take plenty but just interested in case).

Have read the advice on festival website but any other advice/tips welcome.

Thanks.

I wouldnt take a pushchair at all tbh - you can use a pull along trailer maybe but your dd is too young for that so just stick with the sling.

I dont know anything about the caravan fields at all - am quite jealous though.

Hi again Issy,
Just seen this thread,
I don't know how far you are travelling, but last year there were very long delays getting onto the site backing up for miles. Try to plan for the journey well with a little one just in case you get stuck. If you could travel with one of your friends it would make it easier for you in case little one gets upset, as they do. I always find it so hard to concentrate while my baby is crying and it really helps if there is someone else in the car. Snacks and drinks and toys for the car ( though I know you said you were breastfeeding- but even just for you).
As I said on the other post, i'm really unsure about how to get my little one around and need to wait for weather/ ground forecasts I think. The sling with waterproof and umbrella sound good. I have heard that unless the ground is good pushchairs can be a real pain. If the groung gets very muddy they put straw down in the wettest parts which gets clogged up around wheels apparently. Taking ours I think though as an alternative to the sling. Just bought a secondhand ergo with attachable backpack especially. It's possible to get special raincovers for them too.
They do sel nappies at the festival but I doubt they are in the kids field. They're usually sold at general stores of which they're are quite a few and should be marked on your site map when you get there. I usually do cloth ones but will be stocking up on eco disposibles for Glasto.
Never stayed in the caravan fields before but understand that there will be far more space for prams than in the usual camping areas. I would imagine that there is a small walk to the water tap. Guess there is one water point in each field. If you booked with the same company as us , and we're in the same field, i'm happy to lend a hand.
Lou x

Thanks lou - just a quick one as dd getting restless. Caravan fields open from 9pm Tues night this year so planning on going down for then to avoid huge delays - at least that way if still delays it will be evening and not so hot in car. Only trouble is she often stocks up in evening with lots of feeds but she has done a few 7-7 sleeps so hoping car motion will help.

Must go she's bored of tummy time now. Hope to see you there.

Tickets arrived yesterday - not long to go . Fine guide doesn't show a family caravan field this year, so we might be neighbours after all. Says caravan fields open from Tuesday afternoon, which is great - can arrive before the evening feeding marathon starts.

Any final tips before we go?

Should add we now have P&T and an ergo-style sling.
