Is it a good idea to take baby food jars in my suitcase?

I'm going abroad for the first time with the kids in......7 days Eeekk!

I have an 11month old and we are going half board, so just planning on chopping up whatever there is on offer for breakfast and lunch. For lunches I was thinking of taking baby jars, is it a good idea to take them or will I find them abroad???

Depends where you're going.
What about the pouches - they will take up less room and less likely to get broken?

Have a nice time

Thanks! Going to Menorca. I've not come across pouches where do you get them from! The jars weigh a ton and yes would probably get broken!

Double wrap them in plastic bags just to be on the safe side.

If your baby is fussy and will only eat one particular kind of baby food then take some with your, but really you don't need to.

They have babies in Spain, they have jars of baby food in Spain.

Take enough for the first day so that you are not having to head straight out and find a supermarket when you get there.

Thanks for the link champagne!

Mmelindt - You are so right, I know there are babies in Spain, I am so neurotic I shouldnt even really ask these questions! I'm just bricking it a bit now as not been abroad for 8 years and never with a 4 n 11 mth old! She's not a fussy eater at all so I think I will do as you guys suggest, wrap the jars well and just take a couple to be going on with! Or maybe buy a few of those pouches.

Thanks

You are not neurotic, it is completely normal to think about these things. We were so used to travelling with the DC from a young age as we lived abroad that it did not take long before we realised that they really are not a problem.

DD at that age loved to sook for hours on a croissant or a brezel (depending on where we were on holiday)

My friend took her 8 month old on holiday to Goa for 3 weeks a few years ago. She bought ready made up formula packs with her (which lasted the three weeks) and quite a lot of jars but in fact ended up having to buy some more jars when she was out there.

She said she was worried her son wouldn't eat the from the the new jars as the food in them is formulated differently in different.

The jars in India di in fact smell and taste different than her son was used to but he ate them no problem. She said in retrospect she wouldn't have bothered with so many jars next time. Her son also ate the rice and had toast etc in the morning for breakfast in the hotel.

tbh at this age they are less fussy then the 2-3 year olds so a combination of suitabler mashed up food that you are eating and jars you can buy locally are probably better than taking loads with you.

Why don't you just share your lunch with the baby? Cheaper and probably tastier!

You could share sandwiches, omelette, salad, bread and cheese etc.

Have a nice holiday

Good idea about just sharing my lunch, I went to my nanna's house yesterday and took a jar of baby food and I neded up giving her bits of ham sandwich and cold sausage and eccles cake! Didnt give her the jar at all!

I just need to chill and stop worrying about everything, already planning on giving her bits of my breakfast and tea at the hotel, it'll be fine I'm sure!

Thanks for all your advice gus
