Dh thinks he saw something today about being able to buy insurance specifically to cover us if our holiday is affected by volcanic ash, anybody think this is feasible?
Thank you!

I read on a thread here that natwest and other bank type insurances cover it - will have a look for you.

Read the policy wording before taking out a policy, or renewing and existing one. Im sure many are being updated if you take out a renewal, check the new wording, before accepting and looking elsewhere.

Just noticed some policy wording (additional the the last policy published):

Delay or Cancellation:
claims will not be covered if
"An aircraft or sea vessel being withdrawn from service (temporary or otherwise) on the recommendation of the Civil Aviation Authority, Port Authority or any such regulatory body in a country to/from which you are travelling."

This one is underwritten by AXA

The CAA - Civil Aviation Authority are the ones that make the final decision, if Ash clouds are too dangerous to fly and impose no fly zones.

Just had a letter from my Boots annual policy to say Ash was covered.

DO you know what they are actually covering? We'll lose 2.5k accomodation costs if we can't fly - do they just cover the flights?

HinnyPet · 17/05/2010 11:49

Good question Koalasar, that's what worries
me too.
