Legoland, Windsor

I've been looking online and there seem to be a lot of good deals around for half term.

Has anyone any useful tips?

If we travel by train, which hotel would be best? We would need to catch a bus to and from Legoland.

We would be travelling from Bristol, staying for a few days midweek and having 2 days in the park.

Can't advise you on hotels but can defintiely recommend a q-bot thing! The q-bots cost extra but it means you can pick a time for a particular ride and then get on the ride at that time without queuing. We found this absoutely necessary when going to legoland during the busy time which half term will be - it meant the kids really enjoyed the day rather than spending half the day waiting in a long line. Happy kids happy mummy!

Some useful stuff here

I know the royal adelaide hotel does a legoland package.
Its on the edge of the long walk/great park, 5 minutes walk from town where the beeline shuttle bus goes to legoland.

I would expect that a central Windsor hotel would be best if travelling by train, as the hotel is then just a short walk from the station. Looks like the train route (First Great Western) would be Bristol to Reading to Slough then to Windsor & Eton Central.

The Spa at Harte and Garter is meant to be good.

How many children do you have... if only 1, then Mercure Hotel may be suitable.

What about www.LegolandHotels.co.uk - will you be using that to get the Hotel and Park tickets all in one go? Harte & Garter is one of the hotels selectable... the rest look too far away given you are travelling by train.

There is a TravelLodge in Windsor which is near the train station. Typically around £55 a night. Is very centrally located, so may get issues with noise.

Sir Christopher Wren is another local hotel situated on the river bank. Looking more like £150-170 per night there.

Transport to Legoland... there is a shuttle bus from Theatre Royal (very near Windsor Castle) to Legoland. The bus is chargeable. However you may find that your Rail Ticket can be purchased such that it includes travel to Legoland itself - thus includes the shuttle bus.

There are many threads on Mumsnet about Legoland itself and how best to navigate the park... so I'll let you explore this section of mumsnet to find those.

The royal adelaide is really not that far from town you can see the castle from the street.
Both train stations are in town so not too far to walk or jump in a taxi if you have lots of luggage!
Harte and Garter is very expensive, depends how much you're looking to spend really.

Travelodge is right in the centre of town, right next to the central station.

I'm in Windsor, will be in town tomorrow, let me know if there's anything I can look at for you, shuttle times etc...

We have stayed at both of the Marriot's and they're fine.

Oh Mummy, I've just realised its you! lol

We had a conversation about breast clinics not so long ago, I've name changed since!

Told you to mention being flamed to see if it was me...?

mummyofexcitedprincesses · 03/05/2010 09:54

I remember, you were wonderful in my time of need. All is well, but still check my breasts on a regular basis.

Think I will book the travel lodge (cheap and cheerful) then look online for cheap park tickets. May do 2 days in the park then a day in Windsor or London. Will book tonight.

Bythewayitsstillme, fancy a coffee (or vino) while I'm there? My treat as a thank you for your support.

Oh it'd be lovely to meet you. I do think of you when I'm at work.

[email protected], gimme a shout x

ELC do 'kids go free' vouchers for legoland, and you can use tesco points to get tickets.
Ironically legoland do a cracking NHS discount too!

last minute offers

Just found this on the website, they have 'kids go free' days without any vouchers.

Aaaah thanks. I am very aware of how lucky I was with my breast lump. Made me re-evaluate things a bit though, I'm going part-time to spend a bit more time with my kids, trying to be nicer to DH, not sweating the small stuff.

Oh I'm really pleased it all worked out for you.
Although I have to say, after two days in legoland I think I'd need some time away from the kids and DH|!

mummyofexcitedprincesses · 06/05/2010 23:00

DH has booked 2 nights at the Copthorne, Slough, with park tickets included. Not the cheapest but he was won over by the pool, gym and movie night deal. Bless him. Ah well, as long as he is paying...

We booked through a company called Superbreak. There's a phone number on there - easier than on-line from what I could see.

We got a really good priced hotel, which was fab (but in Woking so too far away for you if you're on the bus) and then the lady on the phone looked up to add on the Legoland tickets and we got our 2 day park tickets for £7 (2 Adults - kids were too young to pay). I was planning to get them with Tesco vouchers but it ended up even cheaper than that! Definitely worth a call.
