Was looking for something to do this weekend and came across their website.

Is it worth going to with 7 yr old DD?

Thanks.

Goodness. I live not a million miles from there and had never heard of these caves.

I'll be interested to see what others say (and might suggest dh takes ds1 there at the weekend ).

If you're looking for something else to do in that area the Imperial War Museum aeroplane museum is close by (Duxford). Lots to see there even if your dd isn't particularly interested in aircraft.

Thanks for that MrsJohnDeere, we've been to the Imperial War Museum in London a couple of times, we used to live relatively close by, and we always enjoyed that.

My thinking re the caves is that because they're underground it won't matter that heavy rain is forecast this weekend.

We're also considering the Natural History Museum in Tring, have you been there, any good?

I'd like to know about the caves too, I read about them when we first moved here and never got around to it...

Yes, the museum in Tring is interesting if very bizarre. Lots of stuffed animals (and some fleas wearing little clothes iirc). If you do go there I strongly recommend being there as it opens or late in the day. It gets very busy indeed.

Roman Museum at St Albans is good too. Haven't been on a bank holiday so have no idea how busy that might get.

BallpointPen · 29/04/2010 16:04

Thank you, again. We've been to the one in St Albans (that's where we live) and it was a good day out, nice that it's right on the park.

There's also Butterfly world just up the road which has recently opened. I saw a piece about it on the lunchtime news today. Think that one might have to kept for a sunny day though.

What about Stockwood Park Discovery Centre? The best place to visit by far in this part of the world (and free too). Just ignore the fact that it is in Luton.

Great playground, wonderful gardens, and interesting museum bits too (also good coffee and cakes, a huge bonus imo). You really need ok or mixed weather to do it justice though as much of it is outside.

Another one on the list.

Between us for we've compiled enough weekend outings to last for weeks.

Just seen this - I don't know if you went to Royston Cave or not, but it is "Cave" not "Caves". It's about half the size of my kitchen. Not so much of a day out as a half-hour out. But interesting!
