No, some countries are quite strict. I'm a travel agent and we always make sure people have got at least 6 months validity when they book. Tell her to contact the passport office asap, there is still time if she acts quickly.

I wouldn't. Can she get an emergency fast-track one issued?

frazzled74 · 26/04/2010 13:00

she is single mum, has struggled to pay for hol and has no money for fast track passport. i dont think she should risk it.

If no money for a fast-track, then she'll have no money for any emergency accommodation when she's not allowed back to the UK.

She mustn't risk it. She risks being turned round and put on the next plane back, that's if they don't spot it at the exit airport.

Sounds harsh, but she's just going to have to use some of her holiday spending money to fast-track a new passport. It will be worth it.

ajandjjmum · 26/04/2010 13:10

Would it be worth her talking to the Turkish embassy to see if they have any advice?

abitlostandconfused · 27/04/2010 06:23

It would be the airline that would be fined if Turkey turned you away. The airline would need to get you back to the UK as well.

frazzled74 · 27/04/2010 08:44

tbh i think she has so litte spending money that it isnt possible, i feel bad for her but i think she will have to cancel and lose her holiday.I cant help her financially and dh wont let me use credit card to pay fr passport

I wouldn't risk it for anything. Turkey scrutinise your passport (IME) before sticking the visa in.

the airlien can charge you for bringing you back though...and its vv expensive.
