DH, DS1 and i all have these medical card things showing we are entitled to free medical care in europe, but DS2 is only 8 weeks old, so doesn't have one, plus when you apply the main applicant has to be over 16!

IF there is a problem (DS2 has severe reflux and was born 4 weeks early), will we be able to get free medical care for him?

Check and see if you can get his name added to your card. I am just applying for a card for myself and DCs and I think you can have them named as dependants on your card as opposed to them having a card of their own.

its a different system for uk citizens in ireland. As there is a lot of movement of people between the 2 countries. You don't need the E111 form

As doctors are private, just make an appointment if needed and they complete a form to reclaim from the irish health board who claims it from the uk.

They may ask for payment refuse to and mention the reciprocal agreement.

Have a lot of UK relatives who visit and have fallen ill or just fallen on too many occasions. Think local doctor keeps stack of these forms for us!!
