easyjet with a toddler - good/bad/bearable?

just been let down by club med (a whole other thread but wont be booking with them again) so am looking for other places to go in june. One of options is easyjet... how bad is it with the extra luggage charges/rush on board policy with a toddler? is it something to be avoided at all costs?

I've not been with them since having dd ..

I've flown short-haul (London - Edinburgh) with them loads of times. And to Europe a couple of times. They are fine - way better than Ryanair (obviously)

You will get priority boarding with a wee one so you'll get on the plane first - don't pay for speedy boarding. They will get on first, but you'll be next.

If the plane's not going to be full, get on the plane and plonk her down on the seat next to you. No one will come and ask you to move her.

By the time dd was about 18months we were buying an extra seat for her for flying anything more than an hour. But she was quite big for her age and very active

Easyjet are fine you automatically get priority boarding if you are travelling with young children, much more civilised than Ryanair. It'll be absolutely fine.

We went from Gatwick to Bordeaux with them at Easter and they were actaully great. You get one piece of baby stuff free so you can take a pushchair or travel cot with you at no extra cost. The hand luggage allowance is pretty huge. We managed to get all our stuff for dh, myself and the 2 dcs into one checked bag plus a wheely suitcase that we took on as hand luggage so wasn't too costly. At both ends they separated the families at the gate and boarded them first so there was no need to pay extra for speedy boarding etc. I was very pleasantly surprised

Really SGM? That's shocking.

I fly easyjet Glasgow to London and they are fine. Don't pay for speedy boarding, it isn't worth it.

I've never flown with them although have just booked with them to fly to turkey in July.

After the volcano ash delays there were many easy jet customers on the news talking about how well they'd been looked after by the company.

If you pay for checked luggage at the time of booking you will save money, and the limit is 20 kg per person but this doesn't have to translate into one bag per person the baggage size limit is 33 kg.

I don't think there's an airline in the world that can compare to the hideousness of Ryanair (nearly flew with them last year, long story and wrote many a thread about it at the time and would rather forego a holiday than do business with them again.)

I flew to Belfast with them recently and it was very civilized. We boarded after those who had paid for priority boarding.

fabhead · 23/04/2010 18:29

they arent too bad - you go after priority boarders, way, way better than ryan air who i too would never, ever fly with, even alone.

poppy34 · 23/04/2010 18:39

Thanks for that(and sorry to hear the not so good story)- and I agree with poster who would rather not go than go ryanair.

Oh God, wannabe, I remember that horrendous story. Did you ever get any compensation or anything out of them (I'm guessing not)

cathers · 23/04/2010 19:30

Absolutely fine. Have flown with them and young kids loads of times. TBH we usually take our own snacks / drinks for the DS's so really not much point paying the extra for complimentary meals on other airlines

FizzyLiz · 24/04/2010 20:58

Always been really good for us. Flew on my own with DS 2yrs and DD 3months and they couldn't have been more helpful
