Volcanic ash - would you fly?

I am supposed to be flying to Italy on Sunday morning with my 2yo dd. We are going to visit my best friend and her dd who was born last week.

Assuming we can fly by then, would you? I can go anytime really but do want to see that baby and have booked it all (& packed - v excited!)

I'm worried about getting stuck in Italy and mayhem at the airport. We're staying in a hotel and I'd need to cancel 48hrs in advance. Not sure what the ticket refund situation would be. I've had a look at BA's website and have sent an email to ask.

Any thoughts?

I think it's down to personal preference but I personally wouldn't fly if I didn't have to. Apparently there is another ash cloud heading our way so there is more likely to be more chaos just as we thought things were easing up.
I would be scared of ash issues with the flying alone, let alone being stuck either end! Think it's really up to you though, only you know how you feel and how much you really want to go. You may be able to fly out but have a hard time getting back.
Good luck whatever you do!!

No - not for a visit to a friend (assuming the position is similar to now).
