We have booked to stay in a villa just outside Competa in September and will be hiring a car - just wondering if anyone had been here and had any tips for days out, restaurants etc?
Thanks

Hi Schneeby, I just posted on your other thread, my BIL and SIL live in Competa and we are going there in July for the first time. They have said that Competa is actually pretty self contained, for a small fee oyu can use the hotel pool and there are good bars and restaurants around the square.
I will be interested to see what other have to say....will keep this thread marked and report back in August when we have been!

There is a website about Andalucia (dot etc)where local ex pats might be able to help you. Nerja on the coast is a nice place-not too built up (ie not like some of the big costa places)and good seafood places on the beach

Hackney - sounds good. Let me know how you get on

Campo - will have a look at that site, thanks.

Hi

I live in Nerja, about 25mins away. There is a website nerjatoday that will give you lots of info about the area. There is a donkey sanctuary in Nerja, the nearest waterpart is in velez-malaga - again should come up if you google it. I would have thought just about all restuarents in Competa will be family friendly. Kids stay up late here and are accepted virtually anywhere. hope that helps

That's great isw I am looking forward to this holiday so much as it is our first ever proper family holiday. Are the caves in Nerja worth a visit?

Yeah, I haven´t been for years though. Depending on the ages of you dc there is a playground and picnic areas next to the entrance or you can hike though the national park a couple of km (well sign posted) to another picnic area. That would also depend if you are going in the beginning or end of Sept. Last year it was still roasting until end of Oct. I was desperate to wear my jeans and jumpers again by then!

That sounds great isw The kids will be 7 and 5 so could use the playground and do a bit of hiking! We are going at the end of sept and hoping that it will be sunny but not as hot as the height of summer.
