Brighton: Dr Who exhibition and other stuff to do?

Dd (6 years old) being mad about Dr Who is desperate to go and see the Dr Who exhibition in Brighton... Dh has agreed. Now I don't think that's going to keep us entertained all day. What would you recommend apart from Pier and beach? Also any nice cafes, restaurants for lunch? Little shops for kids I might want to have a look at?
Merci

where is it being held?

Please can you do a link?

For lunch there is amazing child friendly vegetarian restaurant just off the front (little east st) called Terre a Terre. Magnificant food, not cheap.

Or there's a pizza express in Ship Street.

On the front there is Alfresco which is Italian overlooking sea - cheap and cheerful.

There is also the Boardwalk (quality burgers and soup and stuff) just next to the Pier on the beach.

Fab fish and chip restaurant on the Pier - cheap as chips and good quality - very child friendly.

will keep thinking for you.

thank you desperatehousewife, very useful stuff, must admit the veggie one sounds great!

Sounds nice RnB, but I'd rather stay in Brighton for the day, any tips there?

Steer clear of the pier if I were you. Very busy and full on.

The Sea Life centre is near the pier. There's also a good playground near Alfresco on the sea front (weather permitting).

The Pavillion is beautiful inside and my dd6 loves it. It's no cheap though. However, the Brighton Museum, inside the Pavillion building but further along, is FREE! There was a doll exhibition last time I looked.

Agree about Terre a terre. Goregeous, but very pricey. Last time I was in there Paul McCartney and Heather were there.

TBH there are loads of colourful cafes and shops all along the trendy north laine. I love to wander around there and see what I can see.

On Trafalgar Street (which runs down from train station) there's a small museum of toys.

Pick up a copy of ABC magazine (free parents mag) in any newagent, or perhaps they do an online copy.

Have a great time. Brighton is fab!

Is that where the darlek was stolen from ???

FrenchGirl · 27/07/2005 12:53

That's brilliant spidermama, thanks for your help! Not sure when we're going but I am keeping fingers crossed for good weather....
Kanga I had no idea a Dalek had been stolen? Am only interested in the delicious David Tennant and enjoyed the picture of him in the new Dr outfit!

I was wanting to go to Brighton this hols, as I hear they have imported loads of sand and are recreating egyptian sphinx, pyramids etc.

You could have a ride on Volks Railway which goes along the edge of the pebbles towards the Marina. It is the oldest electric railway in the world. You could then combine it with seeing the sand sculptures which are very near the Marina. I'm intending to go and see them myself soon as the pictures look very impressive. Apparently one of the pyramids is 45ft high!

I took my two kids plus my Godson to the Doctor Who exhibition and we all loved it btw. (I'm a big fan!). Well worth a visit. I warn you though that the rides on the pier have become horrendously expensive just recently, at least I think so!

Does anyone know if this is open on sundays? It doesn't say on the website.
