Hi,

We are due to fly to Portugal tomorrow. My daughter broke out in chicken pox this morning. Lots of them. Do we still go? She's absolutely fine, just spotty. Airline advice says no.

Been looking forward to it for ages. Haven't been abroad for about 5 years and prob won't get chance again for a long time as now pregnant with number 2. Also, we both work full time and can rarely match up our annual leave. Plus, have to save my holidays for rest of year so I can get some proper mat pay.

Am in a complete dilemma. My reasons for going are selfish I know. I keep thinking how serious it could be if we infected an adult on the plane and what if that person was pregnant. I do believe in Karma too. So maybe we'd end up having a diasterous holiday anyway. Please help!!! What would you do? Honestly? Friends and family are being very non-commital.

Sorry, but she's contagious - putting her in a plane with lots of people close by and the same air circulating around will be heaven for the bugs. Don't do it!

Any more opinions? Please!!!

No, you may not even be allowed on the plane.
A DF of mine had similar problem with her DS last year when coming back into UK. Initally they where refused to board but they were so desperate to get home she resorted to medised and covering son with YSL foundation!

Don't do it, what if DD has complications in portugual?

what a shame. I can understand how you are feeling. We did actually take one of ours to france on a ferry with chick pox many years ago. I thought no more of it until I read a thread on here about a lady who was having chemo and how the immune system is compromised so to be in contact with such things is very dangerous.

Thank you. You have made my decision easier. We have decided not to go. It's for the best I know. So instead..... I will be decorating the spare room, ready for the arrival of baby 2 in November!

Maybe if we are lucky, we can go later in the year.
