It's my DDs 3rd birthday tomorrow and I'm looking for somewhere nice to take her. We live in between tamworth and nuneaton. Have already done Kingsbury Water Park and Bosworth water park, but would like somewhere similar where she can run about, feed ducks or see some animals, but not mega busy due to Easter hols! (made that mistake last year at Twycross zoo!)

Will also be taking DS who is 7m so needs to be buggy friendly! Willing to travel an hour in any direction, so Leicstershire, Notts, Derbyshire and Warks all do-able!

TIA!

We really enjoyed Dobbie's World. Have you been there? Lots of mazes, a few walks and a big garden centre with a cafe. I think it is near Nuneaton.

I know Warks better, but Hatton Country World is an obvious suggestion but if it is cold, personally I would give it a miss. It is buggy-friendly though.

Thanks llareggub! We go to Dobbies quite a bit as it is really close to us (And I like the cafe! ) but we've not done the maze world or plantasia bit for a couple of years, so that might be worth a trip. (And we can go to the cafe afterwards!! ) DD loves going to Dobbies and calls it Dobbie's house as if we know 'Dobbie' or something!!

Not heard of Hatton Country World, so will go and google that. Sounds nice, though!

Are there any nice country parks this side of Warks as the only other thing I can think of, weather permitting, is to take her somewhere she can 'ride' her new birthday bike! She loves a picnic, too, so she'd be happy as Larry if we did that!

Nice and sunny here today, so fingers crossed for the same tomorrow!

Thanks again!

Well, there is Coombe Abbey in Coventry? It is very lovely there.

We tend to go to National Trust places like Charlcote Park, Packwood House and Baddesley Clinton.

Have a lovely day tomorrow!

  • Thomas Land
  • Belton House - Grantham, great adventure playground, good walks and lovely child cafe and restaurant
  • Twin Lakes
  • Bradgate Park
  • Wollaton Hall, Nottinghamshire
  • Derbyshire - Buxton, Bakewell, Ripley to the steam railway which you can ride
  • Rushcliffe Country Park, Nottingham
  • Nottingham Castle - indoor play area for kids - dressing up etc...

Wow! Thanks, Ladies!

Will have to google all of those this afternoon when the DCs are asleep! We normally do National Trust, too, but thought as it was her B-day we should do something more child-orientated! Lots of lovely ideas there, will look them up and then I'll be able to give her a choice of what she fancies doing!

Thanks again!

West Midlands Safari park?

How about one of the childrens' farms - Ash End House, or Hoar Park (also an antiques centre and tea room).

Also Market Bosworth country park is nice - just the other side of Bosworth village, has a duckpond, woods and play area. And Bosworth Battlefield park - think MB is the country park capital of the UK tbh.

Hartshill Hayes country park, brilliant new play area and woods there.

Conkers, but can get busy. Snibston Discovery centre has a country park attached.

Sence Valley Forest park - think it's near Ibstock - good for bikes only one hill.

Rosliston Forestry Centre up in the National Forest.

I've been to all those with buggies, think we may be near neighbours!

ButtercupWafflehead - oooh, not thought of the safari park!! Doesn't matter if the weather is bad, either!

Tootootired - Think we must be neighbours!! Been to Hartshill Hayes and had trouble with the buggy (DH and I had to carry DD up that big run of steps in the massive Graco Travel System!), so had ruled that one out, but if there is a good play ground, then that might be enough to entertain her for a bit!(Then could go to Dobbies for a coffee!! )
Had forgotten about the country park in MB! Been ages ago for a stroll, but would be lovely for a picnic.
Not heard of Sense Valley Forest park - I assume the river Sense runs through it, so must be near to us as the Sense runs through our Village! Will google that one later!
Have bad memories of Rosliston Forestry centre as was stung by a wasp there!

Never knew I had so much choice!!

Thanks Ladies!
