looking for hotels in France that will sleep 5 in one room - do family rooms exist?

I've been looking for ages but can't find any hotels in central France that have family rooms for 5 - one of ours is still in a travel cot - any ideas? Need a stopover on our way to the Dordogne in August...

I think I found out about this site on here

I know of one near Rouen which turns a blind eye to us sneaking in an airbed for the third dc so would be fine with you bringing your own cot in. Has a double plus two singles on a mezzanine level. Will find the details if you are interested

Orleans any good?

Some of the ibis type hotels do rooms with 2 double beds then you could either bring a cot or put no.5 in with you(!). Or same hotels often do interconnecting rooms which might not be much more expensive than a family room.

Have you tried Suitehotels? They have bigger rooms than ordinary hotels and come with a double bed, that you can curtain off from the rest of the room when the children are asleep for privacy, plus a single bed that pulls out into two beds, and then a cot as well. There is also a kitchen area, with a kettle, microwave, fridge and sink; a dining table and chairs; a bathroom and separate loo. We have used this chain a couple of times in Germany, and it would appear they're available in France too. We found the space and the kitchen area really helpful. It meant we could return for lunch and make up baby's bottles. Just a thought.

We found it difficult to get a family room. They are strict about max4 in room policy. A hotel in La Rochelle offered us a rate for family room. Can give you name if you want it.
We didn't go for that option in the end and had to book 2 interconnecting room in a 2 star hotel which got very good reviews on Tripadvisor. HTH, D

Thanks for all your replies. The Room for 5 website is a great find but in the end we've had to book 2 rooms - ho hum!

we stayed in b&b hotel which has rooms with kingbed and 2 singles they won't count the infant so you just bring in your travel cot...
if you look on the website's faq it says ''For my child, from what age is it compulsory that he or her has his or her own bed?
Up to 3 years old, your child can share your bed (or you can bring a cot*). Children over the age of 3 years old will be counted as an adult and therefore an adult bed will need to be booked for them.

  • B&B does not provide any extra

we stayed in their hotel in arras and they had a wall but no door that separated the kids from adults. in liege's hotel there were stairs up to a room with 2 single beds - with stairgates!
