We're off to stay with MIL over Easter. We'll go to Chester Zoo for the day but what else can we do whilst we're there? MIL is not clued up on local family days out.

Cheshire Ice Cream Farm, has indoor play area, lots of animals, milking, outdoor play area.

Wheelock farm shop is similair.

BluePlanet aquarium.

Cheshire Oaks retail village has an amazing covered play area and it is free, great if it is raining. Also bowling/cinema and all manner of places to eat.

Beeston Castle.

Catch the train out to Delamere Forest and go for a long walk or bike ride,Go Ape is there too.

Manley Mere adventure trail is brilliant, much better than the Crocky Trail and cheaper and less busy.

Visit Liverpool One for shopping then go on the ferries.

Stockley Farm.

Tatton Park (NT)

There is an amazing looking kids play centre thing in north wales that ds picked up a leaflet for, but that is somewhere in the junk that is my car and i am not hunting for it. PLaces like chester zoo and blue planet have leaflet boards which can be very very useful when new to an area.

That's great, thanks

Any suggestions for stuff in North Wales and anything a bit less touristy as I'm worried everything will be packed at Easter.

There's a great farm park thing for feeding and holding lambs etc and has a play park and a show indoors if weather poor. Its quite low key but nice and never too busy - its called greenacres animal farm i think deeside is the nearest town. It'll be ideal for your dc's ages, further away is Greenfield theme park which is great but for older ones.

dpwellies we love Greenacres. There is something fantastically naive and a bit naff about it that amuses us adults and of course anything tacky appeals very much to small children!

Eton Hall, a few mins outside Chester.
It's Duke of Westminster's house in Cheshire.
It's opened to the public on Easter Sunday & Monday.

This place is beautiful. If you fancy a walk with an ice cream in a grand estate, I think you might like it.

There're plenty of places to go around Cheshire.
