London Eye

2 in our party want to go on the Eye when we're in London, and the other 3 don't. What's to do near the Eye for the earth-bound 3 while the other 2 are up in the air? About how long does the whole thing take (queuing and riding)? We'll be there during the week in early May.

Thanks.

The London Aquarium is right next to it!

And Duck tours go from nearby.

IIRC, the eye takes less than an hour to go round. I think you have to get tickets in advance now (the queues were horrendous in the early days!) so if you buy online, you just arrive for your slot.

There's also a park with swings, etc right next to it. And the Southbank centre which often has exhibitions, etc, and has an outdoor water feature that the children can run about in if it's warm enough!

Thanks, BigTillyMint. I'm glad to know about the park and Southbank centre. We all want to ride the Duck, and I don't really want to pay for the Aquarium for only 2 hours...

The ride takes about 30 minutes to go around. Make sure you do the 4d movie thing. It is quite fun and kids like it. Also there are lots of street performers to watch when waling along the Southbank. The Tate modern is at the end and that is free and interesting too.
