Feeding baby on long haul to Perth

I am flying to Perth with my son who will be 5 1/2mths old. Any advice on bottles, formula etc? The thought of taking enough sterilised bottles on the plane is daunting....

I would just buy the individual packs of ready made formula. Save the whole explaining at the security gate nonsense. It is premade and just needs to be warmed up. The cabin crew are very helpful too. Who are you flying with? Make sure that you say every time you deal with the airline that you have a little one and need assistance. Say it over and over again to them.

You can buy disposable sterilised bottles from Boots. They are individually packed and you can get them in boxes of 4 or just single ones - that way you just open a new one when you need it and then throw it away afterwards and all your proper bottles can travel in hold.

Re: milk - ready made formula is the best. I would however buy it at the airport after security. Boots will have the most common ones (SMA, Cow & Gate, Aptimil). We took ready made formula with us last time we flew but had to leave it (all 6 cartoons) at the airport security as they wanted us to open them all to taste them. As the formula expires 2 hours after opening there was no point in that and, as we refused, they refused to let us through with the formula and we ended up buying another 6 cartoons from Boots.

Also have you asked the airline for a baby bassinet? These are allocated on first ask first served basis so it is a good idea to request one as early as possible.

You can contact Boots and they will keep some milk for you 'on the other side' as it were. They can definitely insist you taste the milk as Mingg says, even in cartons it makes no difference. I took nine bottles of cows milk with me! It was ludicrous but it had to be done. We did have to taste them all at Heathrow and again at Singapore.

Thanks everyone for your tips. Especially bout buying formula after security, wouldn't want to throw it away, that would be annoying!
