Is air sickness common for babies?

Hi

I have just done an 11 hour flight with my 12 month year old who randomly woke up in her bassinet about 7 hours in and vomitted all over herself, the bassinet, the window, man next to us etc etc.

She has never been a "sicky" baby so this came out of the blue. Can babies get air sick?

If you have experienced this too, do you have any tips for avoiding it on the flight back?

Thanks!

Not sure if it is common; maybe you've just been unlucky. In my experience of flying with babies and children, you just never know! Mine haven't been air sick, but I'm touching wood as I type this...

The only advice is to brace yourself for the return, and be even more prepared than ususal. Have plenty of changes of clothes for all of you, bags for dirty clothes, loads of wet wipes and the sure-fire knowledge that it won't last forever, even if the flight feels like it. And have a large G&T ready!

Good luck with the return home.

[But how does your 12 month old fit in the bassinet still? I'm jealous as we always had to have them out of it by about 9 months]

Mine were never sick but I have seen other babies being sick on planes so I don'tthink is so unusual. My older dd now gets travel sick in the car so I give her a travel tablet before we go on a long journey, I think my friend used to give her baby some kind of syrup, maybe phenergen? Just ask your doctor or a pharmacist for something to stop travel sickness.

Thanks all. Actually think she had a bug (which unfortunately appeared on the flight) as her cousin's started throwing up 48 hours after we arrived at my brother's house!

However, useful to know that you have witnessed vommie babies on flights.....
