3 hr flight with 3 month old

Hi
I am wondering whether to book a holiday with hubbie and baby for when he will be around 3 months old (I am 24 weeks at present). We are in NZ and this would be a short break of around 5 days in Sydney. It is a 3 or 4 hr flight there - am I being too ambitious? We love to travel and want to feel that life has not totally stopped when we have a baby!

Why on earth wouldn't you?

My dd has flown regularly from 6 weeks.

You may want to feed on take-off/landing because that's when their ears are likely to "pop".

This will be fine. There are restrictions on taking baby formula milk on board due to them being liquids you would have to check this with the airline, obviously if your breastfeeding it won't matter!

My friend flew to Bahrain from UK when her DD was 10 weeks old and she did it alone too. She said it wasn't too bad, her DD fed and slept mainly, if you can try and book seats with a bassinet facility so baby can sleep in there and it fress you up a bit!

No problem at all. Mine have also all flown since 4/5 weeks.

Take bottles or bf.

Take a change of clothes for him and maybe one for you in handluggage - in case of accidents.

It will be a total doddle.

I took my oldest dd on a 4 hour flight when she was just 6 weeks. She was fine, she slept most of the way. They are quite easy to travel with at that age.

I did a 3 hour flight with a 4 month old on my own, it was quite easy, and to be honest i wouldn't want to do it now with a 14 month old. At 3 or 4 months, they only want to sit on your knee, will sleep for a bit. As i was on my own, the airline staff even took her off my hands for 30 mins so i could eat, and just cuddled her at the back of the plane.

Go for it. The only advice I would give is if you can book an appt rather than hotel in Sydney, the one downside of our trip was sitting in the hotel room in the evening, not wanting to turn on the telly on in case it woke her, and reading with dim lights.

Can't imagine doing it know as DD won't sit still for 2 mins

Yes is fine. Is easier when they are small. Agree w apartment rather than hotel room. Vg advice.
