Broke but need a break including sunshine!

We are broke, totally broke broke broke.

However, after a few years of zero sunshine we are struggling to stay home again this summer.

Obviously if there was a really cheap option everyone would be doing it.... but any ideas? We have 3 girls, 14, 12 & 3.

Anyone have any good ideas to the sun on a shoestring which does not include camping? One of the girls has had surgery for scoliosis so sleeping on the floor is out of the question at the moment.

Thanks !

Have you considered booking flights on Easyjet or similar then finding accomodation online cheaply?

We've just come back from Agadir in Morocco. Self catering apartment with a nice pool for £200 for a week on Travel Republic and flights were £200 for 3 of us including 2 lots of hold luggage. It was our first holiday in 3 years and the sunshine was fantastic. Turkey might be an option. Anywhere out of the Eurozone is going to be cheaper.

Good luck. I'm feeling you're pain regarding brokeness and desperate need for a holiday.

Allergro - thanks, had not considered morocco, that's a lovely idea, will look into it now.

Have you thought of cheap flights and staying at a youth hostel? Have booked a summer holiday to Germany with easy jet About £70 each for a flight and then hostels have family rooms and can be as good as budget hotels (approx £80 a night for a 6 bed dorm?). The teenagers will meet loads of friends too. We love hostelling and it works out cheap.

Also did a cheapy to Nice a few years back. Cheap flights and then stay in caravan - we paid £200 for a week in August (you can find hire caravan deals on the internet if you look for people who just own one or two rather than a company). Nothing brilliant accommodation wise but the weather was fantastic and self catering kept the costs down.
Good luck

Had not thought of the caravan route - that would mean no floor sleeping - thanks Mutti!
