Cotswold Farm Park - love it to bits

I can't recommend the Cotswold Farm Park highly enough.

Not only do you get farm animals but also tractor rides, bouncing pillows, adventure playground, wildlife walks, a maze, rare breeds and the chance to bottle-feed lambs, hold teeny ducklings/chicks and today, we saw twin lambs being born - wow!

You also get that tasty Adam Henson from Countryfile whose farm it is (though sadly you don't get to hold him...). Everything is included in the entry price, no nasty extra charges for rides, there is a lovely cafe and shop, plenty of free parking and it is in the middle of the most beautiful countryside.

It was the first day of the season today, and my ds and I were the first customers, we bought a season ticket which allows entry all season for about the price of 5 visits. Oh, and there is a campsite too if you are that way inclined. My ds would live there, given the chance.

It's really great.

Seconded. They do good birthday parties, too.

roisin · 13/03/2010 22:03

Oh, I'm so pleased this place is still so fab. We used to take the boys there when they were tiny and they absolutely adored it. (They are 10 and 12 and we leave hundreds of miles away now!)

I was just looking at your link and realised it's the guy off Lambing Live, isn't it?!

tvaerialmagpiebin · 14/03/2010 19:54

Ooh yes Roisin, Adam, he is lovely. He was there yesterday (he owns he place BTW) and I was asking him all about lambing as we watched twin lambs being born.
It is so fab there.

Lemonmeringue have you had a party there recently? how much was it, and what did you get for your money? (What I am really after is does the mummy of the birthday boy get to sit on Adam's lap, ho ho ho)

Isn't this the place where Shiney's penguins live? I want to go!

EvilTwins · 14/03/2010 20:03

I agree. It's fab.

Last summer, we had a fundraiser for our Twins Group and wrote asking if they'd be willing to donate a raffle prize. They sent us a family ticket and a lovely letter, which made us all love Adam even more.

tvaerialmagpiebin · 14/03/2010 20:13

Porto, sadly no penguins on the farm , you are thinking of Birdland

Eviltwins, that was great. All the staff seem so nice and genuine. Adam's dad was there yesterday having a potter about too. Shall we start an Adam fan club?!

It's lovely isn't it

I thought Shineys penguins lived at Cotswold Wildlife Park?

Portofino · 14/03/2010 20:16

My mistake . It is obviously all happening in the Cotswolds!

tvaerialmagpiebin · 14/03/2010 20:21

Gosh yes, it's a constant riot of lusting after ginger farmers here......

OP posts:
Portofino · 14/03/2010 20:25

My ancestors were peasants market gardeners in the Cotswolds. Is that where the ginger comes from?

ApplesinmyPocket · 14/03/2010 20:32

I live close to the CFP and love it to bits. My DDs are grown up now but we used to spend hours there when they were small, on ou rown or with friends. Such a very beautiful spot so high in the Cotswolds and so peaceful, with just the right things to do for small children. DD2 and I still go there occasionally just for a wander and to have a coffee and look in the excellent gift shop.

Also the occasional Sunday Fun Rides are very good, DD used to enjoy taking her pony round their long and beautiful hacking trail with optional cross-country jumps. I did hate getting my very old and cranky horsebox up the steep hill by Ford though - ! poor old pony got quite shaken up as we juddered round that bend.

CMOTdibbler · 14/03/2010 20:36

Have they got a smaller jumping pillow too this season ? DS loved the big one they got last year, but he's still too small when the dads get on it - but they said they'd get a smaller one too.

I used to go there as a child, so it was weird taking DS back there, and so much was the same

EvilTwins · 14/03/2010 20:56

Yes, there are two now - one supposed to be just for under 6s. Not sure how they manage that one, but it IS nice to have more than one.

tvaerialmagpiebin · 15/03/2010 19:47

LOL Apples at the steep hill. I know where you mean. They had a fun ride yesterday, had to tell ds he couldn't actually go on that too.

It makes me LOL that sat navs direct you through the actual ford at Kineton and cars are all grounding their bottoms because their drivers prefer the electronic lady to looking for the brown "CFP" signs.

The 2 pillows are good, IME the big kids (and dads) leave the little one alone as the big one is BIG.

DS liked the maze to and he was chuffed to get a prize for getting all the letters.

Going to watch Contryfile on iplayer now as ds decided to have a poo during the bit with Adam in it yesterday....

IMoveTheStars · 15/03/2010 20:32

out of interest, how much is a season ticket?

tvaerialmagpiebin · 15/03/2010 20:35

Erm... about £37 adult, £23 child??

OP posts:
Lemonmeringue · 15/03/2010 20:36

Cotswold Wildlife Park, where the penguins live, is also fabulous (Burford, Oxon).

gemmummy · 15/03/2010 20:41

i love it too, my fave day out locally, it's great, the food is great i enjoy it more than ds i think!

IMoveTheStars · 15/03/2010 21:45

So, Shiney's penguins DO live at Cotswold Wildlife Park, not the Bird park?

tvaerialmagpiebin · 16/03/2010 12:54

I have just been re-reading the thread as I have a stinking cold and needed cheering up.
Deffo Birdland not the Wildlife Park, but the Wildlife Park isalso v.v.good and has the amazng fellating meerkats (well they were when I went there...)

BTW if anyone has not read the Shiney Penguin thread here it is and here is part 2.

OP posts:
Lemonmeringue · 16/03/2010 13:19

For those of a sensitive disposition, I have been to the wildlife park many, many times and have never seen the meerkats behaving inappropriately.

IMoveTheStars · 16/03/2010 16:32

heh - they weren't felating today either, thankfully!

The penguins were getting a bit aggressive though!

tvaerialmagpiebin · 16/03/2010 19:20

I must be a bad influence on them. They were at it like nobody;s business last time I was there. Big grins all round. Like this

Now those penguins, they are mad. I always feel sorry for whichever unucky sould gets to throw 'em their fish as they are mobbed.

I like that new bit there with the rainforest walkthrough area and the lemurs.

OP posts:
IMoveTheStars · 16/03/2010 20:18

must remember to leave the buggy in the car next time (don't like leaving it) so we can go in - we've not seen it
(the joys of a season ticket )
