Backpack carrier on board

Has anyone taken a backpack baby carrier on board a plane? Do they allow you to do this?

I have emailed easyJet to ask, but doubt I will get a reply before we fly. We were wondering whether we could take the pushchair and carrier up to the plane door and either leave both to be put in the hold or just take on the carrier. I know you can take the pushchair to the plane door, as we've done it before. But not sure and can't find any info about baby carriers (backpack types).

Alternatively, we could check in the carrier instead of the car seat. Has anyone done this?

I took my baby in a front carrier a few times (not with easyjet though) and that was allowed so there shouldn't be a problem with a backpack.

Do you meana frame backpack? I doubt you will be allowed to carry it on unless it is hand luggage size as it wouldn't fit in the compartments and could be dangerous flying around in turbulence.
Can you geta soft carrier? I have flown with a wrap and a mei tai, both of which I can use to carry DD@s on my back, but they fold down into a bag easily.

We carried our framed backpack on and it wasn't counted as hand luggage - it was stowed for us by the crew on all legs of our journey BUT it wasn't with Easyjet. We have taken it on most of our trips about the worldd as I hate using a pushchair in big cities.

I've just flown with Easyjet and they allowed me to take a Patapum which is a back pack carrier without a frame. This was in addition to hand luggage. They do fold it very small though. We left our framed carrier at home. We bought the Patapum for the holiday and I am converted. I will never use the framed backpack again.

Sorry if you were planning on taking a big carrier and this is unhelpful. Might be worth getting something smaller for the holiday maybe?
