Hi - I am thinking of taking 4yr old to Lapland to see Father Christmas in December 2010. It is expensive - does anyone have any experience of it - is it too cold, will she be bored or thrilled? Which companies are good or bad? Grateful for any tips.

Me too, we're thinking of taking 4 year old son and 6 year old daughter. Not sure whether to go with emagine or esprit. Both look good. Friends went with esprit a couple of years ago and said that they couldn't fault it.

My parents took my three DCs two years ago and they absolutely loved it. They were 13, 12 and 9!

All warm clothing was provided so they didnt feel the cold at all.

Husky rides, snow ball fights, dinner twith Father Christmas plus they got MP3 players as a present.

The worst bit was being at Gatwick for 7am! So by the time they got back it was an incredibly long day, I am not sure how little ones would have dealt with it.

But if you can afford it (I think it was about £350 per child) it was worth every penny apparently and the trip of a lifetime.

We took our two ds's this yr. We went with Thomas Cook on a day trip.
It was fantastic but was partly a gift otherwise would be a very expensive day trip.

We were not cold at all, very well organised & the kids loved it, especially the husky rides.
we also went in an ice dome place with tabogan rides & ice sculptures which ds1 loved.

It is a very long day would advise staying at an airport hotel either end of the day unless you live very nearby.
The darkness at 2pm in Lapland makes you feel like you've been up all night by about 8pm.
