Is it worth doing Half Board at Disneyland Paris?

Am planning on taking our ds's in june (5 and 2) and was wondering if the half board option was worthwhile? On the face of it it seem quite costly but then I don't know what the general food costs are as I've never been.

Do you have to pre book the restaurants or can you just turn up?

the restaurants in the parks are all just a 'turn up' affair. we went to planet hollywood and just turned up... Cafe mickey is a must with DC's of your LO's ages, and better to book in advance aim to book a table between 12-2 as thats the best time for the characters!!

We went in oct when DS was 4.9yo and DD1 was 3.5yo and they loved it. Buffalo bills is also very good and includes your evening meal for the price.

On average i think we spent about 80euro's per meal... we ate at some that were around e30-40, and some that were over e100.... having said that the DC's did get lots of the extra's that you can buy at the food places- ie lunch boxes and straw toppers etc.

we also quite enjoyed pizza planet, and wanted to go to rattatoui restaurant in the Studios but went somewhere else that day.

So.... as i was getting to... I would say you only really need to have breakfast in the hotel. we stayed at davy crocketts and had their breakfast hamper, collected at 7am, ate then set off for the 8am early entry for hotel customers. not being restricted by times of meals was much easier for us... especially as the parade is on till about 6ish... gave us time to watch it, eat then get back for a decent enough bed time before the early morning to do it all again!!

have fun!!

So are you saying you ate at the park and not at the hotel? Is that more flexible?

Did you do this discount thing?

Sorry but it's all new to me

We just got back and had the meal deal vouchers. It saved us an absolute fortune as the food is not cheap even without the awful Euro rate at the moment. When you are booking keep an eye out for free meal deals.

We stayed at the Newport Bay Hotel and it was fab. No driving (you need a car for Davey Crockett) and 2 hours in the park before it opens to the the public. It was near enough to pop back for a swim and a rest in the middle of the day and return when the park quietened down later, too.

Have a fab time!

yes we ate every lunch & evening meal in the park/village. We stayed for 5 days & 4 nights and we'd do the same again. We didn't want to be restricted to meal time's with the 4 of us plus a baby to have to get back- thats also why we chose to stay at davy crockets- we only really used the 'room' to sleep in and were going by ferry anyway. I think if the kids had been older we'd have flown and stayed in one of the hotels, but again we'd eat lunches and evening meals in the park.

Make sure you take plenty of snacks and drinks whatever option you go for. A very clever lady had an insulated coffee cup and filled it up at breakfast before going to the park. I would wrap a few pain au chocolates for the girls to have in the park and filled a couple of drinks bottles too. No-one minds if you are not going overboard.

With our meal vouchers, we could use them in the park and in other hotels. You need to book your evening meal in advance to avoid silly queues. They weren't valid for MC Donalds, Planet Hollywood or the Rainforest Cafe though.

We loved the newport bay half board option -huge choice of high quality food lovely roasts and veg/fruit/parisserie/pasta dishes everything- I found the choice in the park very limited to fast food options. We boked our table for dinner and were given a time for breakfast. Took snacks and drinks with me to take around with us. Have fun!
