Is it any good and is it suitable for a 5 year old and a 2 year old???

The 5-yr-old will love it (and you'll get to go down the slides and zipwires too). My 11-yr-old scoffed at first but was soon whizzing round with more enthusiasm than his little sister. The den-building area (lots of piles of logs!) was a very big hit.

Can't remember what was on offer for smaller ones -- you might have to keep a very close eye to ensure they didn't vanish up twenty feet of tree house or into the centre of the mmaze.

It's quite pricy - £10 a head, clidren and adults - but our favourite 'theme' place so far. Pick a fine day, though. Nothing really to do inside in bad weather.

Thanks it does look really good- quite like the idea of doing zip wires myself!

I took dd for her third birthday and she loved it. There are smaller areas for the younger kids, and adults can go on most of it too!

I loved the vertical drop slide

Yes, you will all love it. Lots to do, zip wires, climbing, crafts, den building in woods, boat ride...we had a lovely day with our 2 and 4 yr old. Enjoy!

My favourite place on earth

Brilliant fun, our dc's enjoyed it more than Disney and, TBH I think it would be worth it even if they charged twice as much.

Take wasp repellent in the summer, and a decent picnic, we ended up eating my hastily prepared fare of monster munch and pop next to the Fearnly-Whittingstalls

It is fab, my advice would be to wear sensible shoes like trainers. I didn't really realise about climbing the rope ladders etc and had birkies on and couldn't really do most of it.

It's probably a 2and a half hour journey for us (and 4DCs). Is it worth the journey?

Hard call this.. we had a greatout (10,10 and 14 yrs) BUT Bewilderwood is, in part, only as good as your imagination and I do know people who have found it over priced... It is essentially a big tree house. For the journey do not even think about leaving the house if the forecast is not good - Bewilderwood is a dry weather activity - the zip wires can get busy so would also recommend an early start. You could also consider Dinosaur Land.

We love Bewilderwood!
Have been twice with DD. It's great because the adults get to go on the activities as well rather than standing around looking bored while the kids have fun. (I'm a big fan of zip wires!)

Some pointers though:

  • It can get VERY busy at peak times with long queues to get in and quite a crush on the aerial walkways and ladders, which seriously reduces the fun. Try not to visit on a bank holiday weekend!
  • Take your own food. They do have cafes but again they can be very busy and did run out of sandwiches when we were there one time.
  • Gift shop is hysterically expensive, although lovely.
  • The whole experience should be kinda magical, spotting the little houses hidden up in the trees, making dens etc. If the place is utterly heaving with people, the magic disappears.

We also love Dinosaur Land. Lots to see and do. Also has some very good adventure play areas. Possibly more for the younger children to do here (rabbits to cuddle etc). Much more spread out so doesn't seem to get as crowded as Bewilderwood. Really good day out.

We absolutely loved Bewilderwood and even bought the book on our way out! We went about 3 years ago and i hear it has grown since then. But definitely a 'good weather' place!

It's also about 2 1/2 hours from us and we wouldn't travel that far for it. We regularly go to Twinlakes in Melton Mowbray which is awesome for all ages.

I second dinosaur adventure park - can use tesco club card points there now too!!
