I have just booked our family holiday to club med in Hammamet, Tunisia, I hope I've done the right thing as I have no experience of club med holidays or Tunisia!? We are going with our sporty 6 year old son and our three year old daughter, both of whom i'm hoping will do a few hours of kids club but am a little worried about the language barrier? If anyone has been please could you write a few words of reasurrance, tips etc, we are going the first two weeks in June. Also,do we all need vaccinations? Thankyou.

We've been there a few times and really enjoyed it. Reassure, reassure!!

It's up to you to do as much or as little as you like. Most staff speak pretty good English and at the shows, they normally speak in a few languages.

My kids weren't too keen on the kids club, although I thought it was very nice, predominantly French kids, though was cute to see ds at 5 walking along singing in French.

It has two lovely pools, and is on the beach, though a few minutes walk from the pool area.

If we could afford it we would go for 2 weeks, but have only managed 1 week.

No jabs required. No misquito problem.

Activities include trapeze, which you MUST try (if I can anyone can!!) roller blades, there's a nice spa- try a massage- quite different to here. The market comes- so you almost don't need to leave.

Food is a self service, with early sitting for young kids if desired.

Ask away and I'll try to help

Wow thanks, what time of year do you normally go? Do you think it will be really hot end of may begining of june, or ok? do the staff expect you to tip? I have read on a few reviews that they limit some of the drinks such as watered down wine to a small amount at lunch? We are in a bungalow but not sure if this is the right choice, its really scary reading trip advisor as although there are a lot of great reviews there are a few really bad ones! I suppose this happens where ever you go? Our kids are 3 and 6 so not sure how to do dinner? Is it best to get them to eat then possibly back to kids club while we eat in peace or all eat early together? Our kids are normally in bed for 7 and before when we've been away we have tried to stick to this as we normally go self catering or with a baby listener, I guess this isn't an option here? Should we take our own beach towels or is hire not to expensive? Thankyou and sorry for all the questions!

Try to help out

Never had any expectations of tipping anyone or saw anyone else doing so. Although when we were at Nabuel another time, dh tipped a lovely waiter who always looked out for us and gave us the same table as we had met up with another family. But that was the only time ( and we'd been the year before too)

At meal times you help yourself to bottles of wine from the cabinets. Drinks for kids too. Or you can purchase fancier ones at dinner (never felt the need free bottles worked every time!) You can choose to sit at a bigger table so will meet new folks or at a table by yourself- we did a bit of both. The Club med staff will come and join you- they are normally very chatty and intersting from all over the world.

We stayed in a bungalow too- was great- roomier than the hotel rooms.

You can get towels free every day, although we always take our own beach ones too.

The kids can eat with the kids club and give you peace (ours never did) or eat early with you, or eat at regular times with you. You can pay for one of the kid staff to babysit in your room- never tried it.

There is entertainment every night in a theatre, starting at 9.30 which we went to often. When ds was younger one of us would go with dd and the other would stay back in the room with ds. We often saw others leaving the children alone in the rooms and going out- just going back to check at the door for noise!

The children will come back saying bonjour and bonsoir as everyone says this- very friendly, also bon appetit!

We've always gone in October holidays and had lovely weather in the 80s, maybe needing a cardi at night. So don't know how hot it'll be when you go.

Hope that helps you - also we we go back in a mo!
