Has anyone flown on Aeroflot longhaul?

The title says it all. We're planning a summer holiday to Asia, and Aeroflot is offering by far the cheapest fare. I don't mind transit (no direct flights anyway) but am a bit concerned if it's safe/uncomfortable for travelling with 2 young children. Any feedback appreciated, TIA.

no experience myself but these reviews may be helpful - I think there are a number of airline review sites which you could google.

If you are flying the London - Tokyo route this is there flagship route and is used by many Japanese businessman they put there best people and planes on it and it does not differ significantly from any other major airline. I have flown the London - Moscow leg and was impressed.

If flying "domestically" (and domestic includes according to Aeroflot anywhere in the old soviet union) then you takes your chances. I have flown in one of the Tupolev aircraft and everyrhing you hear is true.

Changing in Moscow is the same as changing anywhere in the world.

We got cheap flights when I was a child (so quite long time ago) from Shannon Ireland to Miami. We got on at the enroute stopover between Moscow and Miami. So there were lots of passengers already on board, the air on board wasn't nice. The main problem was the food - vile, we ate sweets instead, but I suppose we were fussy children at the time, can't remember if the adults ate any of the food. The food would hopefully have improved since then (twas nearly 20 years ago!)

Like DadInstead says, the internal flights have the poorer safety record. I went to Thailand in 2003 with them, London-Moscow then on to Bangkok. Planes were fine, really. Service was pretty iffy and the food not brilliant but when is it on a plane?! There were some slightly dodgy Russian businessmen all getting sloshed on vodka which was highly entertaining!

We very stupidly ended up with a 23 hour wait in Moscow airport (our own fault, hadn't really read timings properly )and it was not much fun. It has probably changed but it was pretty grotty. And the US$20 I (luckily) had bought us a little bottle of water and a croissant sandwich!

We were students though and the price was just amazing- it was £300 return.
