We want something special but all-inclusive holidays seem great as well... is there such a thing as a 'boutique' or 'luxury' all-inclusive holiday?! We want sun and sea and as little to worry about as possible.

All suggestions very gratefully received!

We went to Barbados when I was 16wks pg with DS1, it was lovely, very relaxing.

Not that fab a hotel, nice and chilled but not overly luxurious, am sure that someone will be along who has done some luxury hotels more recently that I have!

frakkinaround · 16/02/2010 10:30

Mauritius, Tahiti?

dilbertina · 16/02/2010 10:33

Maldives? Not much to do, but you will be pampered - wonderful opportunity to just chill out (although I really recommend a scuba diving course if you get sick of lazing around....the snorkelling is wonderful too if scuba sounds too energetic!)
If you feel really energetic you can stroll around the island (should take 10mins or so...)

We went to Vilamendho (sp?) on honeymoon and it was the ultimate chill-out holiday, we had our own private beach bit....and is not a holiday you'll be able to do with small children. Go all-inclusive because each island is tiny and you won't get a choice of where to eat anyway...

Seychelles? Maldives? Borneo?

OOh, I could go mad on exotic locations, it is all I have fantasised about for the past 6 years

jumblequeen · 16/02/2010 10:44

wow, great suggestions! I really didn't know where to begin... Definitely the focus is on the pampering/indulgence side of things (read: 'things we'll never be able to do with small children')

Bali - I do recommend it quite a bit on here but after 30+ years of travelling it is one of those wonders where you will find the most friendly, accepting people, glorious weather, beautiful scenery and countryside and good Karma.

The trouble is once you've been there you will find it hard to want to go anywhere else again.

frakkinaround · 16/02/2010 10:46

Ah well Mauritius is just about doable with small children. Tahiti is a bit far! When are you going though, because you might want to avoid hurricane seasons!

jumblequeen · 16/02/2010 10:51

We're going mid march (a bit last minute...!)

Any particular websites anyone could recommend?

Grenada in the Caribbean has some lovely resorts, nice time in March to go too. LaSource Adults Only All inclusive resort with luxury spa treatments and activites included from under £1600 for a week in March. Or Spice Island Beach Resort, owned by Sir Royston Hopkin and his family. Or the Calabash in Grenada, where you can have your very own private breakfast on your own terrace or balcony cooked to order (while still in your dressing gown if you wish)!

We went to Venice when I was pregnant with DS1, definitely not somewhere to go with little children I think.

MALDIVES!!

angel1976 · 16/02/2010 21:18

Maldives! We went with 18-month-old DS and I was 30-week pregnant with DS2 so we did a children-friendly resort and had the best time. The pampering, snorkelling, people and the weather are all some of the best I have ever experienced and I have travelled a lot in my life. If I had my time again and pre-kids, I would have chosen one of those really exclusive ones that don't allow children! LOL...

Bali is another special place too but I don't think I could stomach the really long flight there if you are pregnant. We booked through Thomson and saved a ton of money than if we had booked the resort and flights separately. Be warned though, Thomson flights are pretty damn rubbish!

Maldives are definitely a great option.

Also, look at the 'Couples' resorts in Jamaica. Adult only, ultra all inclusive luxury but boutiquey resorts. The service is second to none, they cannot do enough for you. We went to Couples Ochos Rios (now Tower Isle) when I was pregnant with DS3 and loved it so much we decided to get married at Couple Negril. They have their own website with a forum so you can ask questions from previous guests (who usually repeat visit). They also have lotsof types of room, which travel agents don't always advertise but will book you if you specifically require one.

I really can't explain how impressed I was witht his resort. One British customr wantd Guiness, only to have it exp[lained that they didn't stock it, but if he came again and emailed in advance they would get him some. Two days later, they had it in. You can get room service continental breakfast included too, so lovely if you want a slow morning on the balcony.

We're fairloy well travelled, but I just love the whole vibe of jamaica and it's my favourite place in the whole world!

ooops try here!

Hersetta · 19/02/2010 14:18

Definitely the Maldives. We been 4 times, the last of which was when i was 24-27 weeks pregnant. If you want luxury all inclusive look no further than Lily Beach resort and spa. Tis wonderful and the only 5* all inclusive in the maldives.

jumblequeen · 20/02/2010 00:01

God, how to choose?! Time is ticking away... I'm half tempted just toc stick a pin in a map of the carribean and visit the nearest place!

Thanks all
