Travel insurance and pregnancy- long query

Background to this is dh and I been ttc no2 for nearly a year- have had some tests done which indicate problems that at best may mean few months improved diet etc may help things and at worse may mean some kind of assisted fertility (which if prognosis is too poor we probably wouldn't go ahead with ).

We would like to go on long trip to Australia in December (4 weeks). My issue is how does insurance work if the extremely unlikely happens and I do get pregnant and I am beyond 28 week window to travel. I am aware of how it works during pregnancy but can you insure against the unlikely or is it a matter of waiting ttc just in case a miracle happens?

Some policies cover you up until 36 wks and it depends on the airline whether they let you travel beyond 28 wks (usually you need a dr's note saying you are fit to fly from 28wks onwards).

Hi,

I was looking at airfares to Japan for November and apparently they won't release those till March/April time. So I guess they will release airfares to Australia around that sort of time or even later. By then, you might have a better idea as to how you are going with TTC (Good luck BTW!). Also, if you book through a travel agent, they can book the tickets and hold them for you and you only pay for the tickets two months before the travel date so you will have time to re-evaluate by then. I bought my travel insurance with Aon as they would let me fly up to 32 weeks pregnancy with a letter from the doctor/midwife.

All the best!

Ax

This is the travel agent I use. They are very good for Asia and Australia... Best to call them and speak to them. They are based in London but I conduct everything with them via email and phone calls. Good luck!
