Bluestone Wales or similar

Looks like we won't be able to take a summer holiday until middle of August so was wondering about a summer half term break. Was just checking prices and 7 nights at Bluestone is still over £1100 min , and only either Fri to Fri or Mon to Mon, or shorter breaks over £600. Can you get discount codes, offers or use points against the cost ? Anyone able to recommend similar cheaper ?

Reviving this as still not booked our sumemr hols and just had an email form Bluestone offering a deal. Are the lodges really poky ?What does the basic price include and how much are any activities on top. Any sailing nearby suitable for a level 3 12yo ?

Hi we went to bluestone in wales shortly after it opened - we got a good price. The lodges are not poky but obviously its still a relatively new location so it doesn't have the 'being in the countryside' feel of centerparcs - its a bit more like being on a housing estate (sorry!)- indoor pool good - again not as good as centerparcs, they apparently have replaced the sports centre there with an indoor adventure centre. there are some childrens activities. babysitting is expensive (£12 per hour I seem to recall) but the restaurants were good, better than centerparcs (sorry to keep comparing). Spa treatments very good (but expensive) Overall it was a lot cheaper than CP but not as good. if you get a great bargain then go for it but if the price is a bit steep you may be better off going somewhere cheaper for accommodation only and doing things in the area generally rather than paying more for somewhere wiht facilities. You won't be missing out on anything fantastic if you don't go to bluestone.

Hillfield Cottages in Devon are very nice - outdoor pool and kiddies play area - not a lot else but you are near to the beach, Dartmouth etc

Hope that helps x

I haven't been to Bluestone but a lot of friends have as we are closer to there than to Center Parcs. They all rave about how fantastic it is, but I haven't been sufficiently convinced myself by the website to actually book! There doesn't seem to be as much to do there, and every time I looked it cost at least as much as CP if not more.

It would be really nice if someone came on here and really sold Bluestone to me though as it is a lot less distance to drive!

I live in Wales and was a centreparcs regular. We decided to give Bluestone a try to support a 'welsh business'. Accomodation lovely and spacious. Facilities well not even in the same league as CP.

Pool inferior, lack of pubs, eating places, play areas the list goes on. They try to sell it to you on the basis that you go out and explore the pembrokeshire area. The bottom line for me was that I liked the idea of a car free break. It isnt possible at Bluestone.

Kids became very bored very quickly couldnt recommend at all

hmm not done CP so can't really compare, preusmably it is isn't so big a complex . If £12phr is a indicator then sounds expensive. Thinking of things they organise like the high ropes course, canoeing, dolphin boat trips. dc don't/won't ride bikes , is that a problem ?

Friends of ours hired golf buggies to get around Bluestone, not sure if that is normal?

It would probably work out far cheaper to rent a cottage in Pembrokeshire or Ceredigion and organise the activities yourself. Anyone can use the pool facilities at Bluestone, there are leaflets advertising it as a seperate thing in every supermarket etc around here. Dolphin boat trips are easy enough to book too, there are always dolphins bobbing around Cardigan Bay and if you go to the harbour in most towns along teh coast during the summer there are trips going out. A good place for canoeing is Llandysul Paddlers. Heatherton is a good place locally for high ropes etc.

I don't know for sure, but I would imagine that Bluestone just arrange these activities with local places doing them, in which case it would be cheaper to book a cottage locally and arrange them yourselves.

Links look fab, thanks ! Food for thought certainly. Tempted by the idea of having a waterpark on site but sounds as if there are other options activity wise locally.
