Amsterdam by Eurostar

We are thinking of having a few nights in Amsterdam with our sons aged 14 and 11 during the Easter Holidays and travelling by Eurostar. Is it best to book both train and hotel via Eurostar or would we be better to try and book the accommodation direct with the hotel? If anyone has arranged such a city break, please could they advise me. We are looking to stay in a modest hotel near the city centre. Thanks

My mother and I once stayed in the "Boatel" in one of the marinas near the Central Station, and really liked it. It was "ship-shape" (a bit small for two such giraffe-like ladies), but quaint; it was reasonable; and the staff seemed competent and friendly. I don't mean competent as faint praise: it is a good thing!

I have booked hotel through Eurostar and done it direct and both were fine. If the prices seem fine to you through Eurostar, I'd do that for ease. There were an abundance of hotels fitting your requirements when I went to Amsterdam but that was a while ago now, so I can't recommend a hotel

You could probably get a better deal using a website like Hotels.com or booking.com. They have reviews. Or even look at lastminute.com and then compare against what the eurostar website offers. I guess you get Eurostar to Brussels and change to the Thalys?
